About
Jimbo’s Takeaway has built a strong reputation in Inverell as one of those reliable spots locals return to week after week. The menu spans well beyond a typical fish and chip shop, pulling in influences from across the Pacific with dishes like Ji Pai Taiwanese fried chicken cutlet, Tian Bu La tempura fish paste, and Japanese karaage chicken bites sitting alongside classic burgers and crumbed fish and chips. The Reef Burger and a soft fried bun round out a menu that genuinely offers something different for a regional New South Wales town.
The kitchen takes its fryer oil seriously, replacing it regularly so nothing carries that stale, heavy flavour that can drag down fried food. Crumbed fish arrives crispy, chips come out hot, and the burgers draw consistent praise from regulars. Sushi is also available for lunch. Vegetarian options are on offer, and the casual, family-friendly atmosphere makes it a comfortable spot for a quick sit-down or a takeaway order on the run.
Service is fast and friendly, with staff known to recognise their regulars by name. Online ordering is available for those who want to skip the queue, and free parking takes the stress out of a visit. Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all options, covering lunch and dinner.
For anyone in or passing through Inverell looking for a fish and chips meal with a bit more variety than the average takeaway, Jimbo’s is worth checking out. Phone ahead or order online during the dinner rush.

I really like the food at Jimbo’s Takeaway, they have a variety of fresh and delicious seafood and burgers, and the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a Crumbed Fish and Chips Combo, and I got a crispy fish fillet, hot fries and a can of drink. It was so yummy. The fries were also fragrant, not greasy. There were many choices of drinks, I chose a can of coke, which was very refreshing. The staff were friendly, and the speed was fast, I only waited for 10 minutes to get my meal. The store was also clean, and there were some seats for dining. I think Jimbo’s Takeaway is a restaurant worth recommending, and I will come back to try other dishes next time.
If you are looking for beautiful, fresh takeaway look no further. The burgers are amazing ( maybe need a more structurally sound brioche bun ) and chicken is terrific. Haven’t had a bad meal yet. Thanks
I’d go here for a feed any day of the week. 🙂
That was the comment I made 7 years ago. I don’t even know if it had the same shop name because it’s had a takeaway shop at this location for soooo long. Unsurprisingly got a works burger and chips. Burger was perfect. The chips not half bad but needed more chicken salt (should have asked for more). 😁 Other than that loved it as always.
On a side not a week later that burger had a slice of beetroot that was the size of the burger bun… I have NO IDEA where you get beetroot that big but damn dude that was the best. 😁 Love the reply as well. You bet we’ll be back again. Local business needs more love 😍
When you pay $21 for a steak burger and chips, you expect to receive the best quality food. While the bun was fresh and soft, and the extras were good, the steak itself was very average with a lot of gristle. The chips were also average, and to make matters worse, the wrong salt was put on the chips and was oversalted. If you order a steak burger, you would expect the steak to be of a decent quality.
Great takeaway food. Super clean.
Would definitely recommend the sushi for lunch and the fish and chips.
All the deep fryers have the oil replaced regularly so you don’t get that stale taste.
Fast, friendly service, great quality food. Online ordering is a bonus.
Know their customers name.
Great burgers better value than scottish take away or kentucky consortium
Great Food and only $3 delivery wouldn’t go anywhere else for a feed
