About
Moorebank Seafoods has built a strong reputation among locals and visitors alike, consistently drawing praise for fresh seafood and quality cooking. The shop’s signature fish and chips feature NZ cod, a step up from the cheaper alternatives many shops rely on, and the batter is noted for being light and crispy without any greasiness. Chips are properly cooked and served in generous portions, making the value proposition hard to argue with.
Beyond the signature dish, the menu extends to calamari, oysters, and battered mussels. The oysters attract a slight premium on the price tag, though regulars seem happy to pay it. The seafood is consistently described as fresh, and the kitchen keeps a close eye on quality across the board.
The shop itself is casual and well-maintained, with table seating available for those who want to sit down and eat in comfort. It suits families well, and the staff are known for being friendly and attentive. Free parking removes the usual hassle of a busy suburban fish and chip shop, and the space is kept clean. For anyone hunting down the best fish and chips in the Moorebank area, this one comes up time and again as a reliable choice.

After hearing that the owners here were originally from another fish and chips shop which I enjoyed, I decided to drive here for a drive. I wasn’t disappointed. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish was still soft inside. Fish was fresh, the oil used felt new. and the chips were cooked well. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Highly recommend and will be back.
New owners are quite stingy on the portion sizes. Looks as though someone has already eaten half the chips. Very poor effort. At least the previous owners provided decent portion sizes. Rip off! Do better!
I was actually planning on having a burger at the newly opened Frangos Moorebank but refused to wait for an hour, so I went to the local fish and chip shop, and I’m so glad I did!!
“Taseatlas” an Instagram account with over 700,00 followers recently voted the Aussie burger as the worlds third best burger, if they tried the burger at the Moorebank fisho it would be #1.
Hamburger with the lot is $13 and the small chips were $3. The pattie was homemade, onions perfectly fried, yolk was still a little runny, tomato actually tasted like tomato and it was all put together on an old school bun.
Great value for money, will definitely be heading back there soon 😍😍😍
Have Eaten at this shop many times! Never had a bad meal.
Great service + clean✨️
Highly recommend 👌 😋
Love the fish and chips here, one of the best in Sydney. And the owner is such a nice friendly guy who treats customers so well. They use good fish like NZ cod in the standard pack, not the cheap ones a lot of other places use, the batter was great and the chips were really good. Highly recommend, will be back
Brilliant calamari and chips. Calamari rings were big and fresh, chips serving size was nice and didn’t taste oily. Also added a potato scallop and they added an extra one free of charge. Friendly gentleman serving and was only $20 for the lot with a can of drink. Definitely recommend, support your local shops!
I asked the owner to grill the 4 x snappers in the window and make 4 grill packs and replies take it home. We don’t do that here ???? Only grill the fillets whats in the window and that fillets look worn out being out under the glass all day. Mind you it’s 645pm and he closes at 730pm.
Seriously these shop owners need to take a look at how u run a business. Pathetic
Chips 2.5/5 much like a low grade frozen take away type
Fish freshness for barramundi 4.5/5
Potato scallops 4.5/5
Fish cocktails batter 4.5/5 light and crispy
Fish cocktails freshness 4/5 tastes like bassa
Calamari 4.5/5

Ask for barramundi and they don’t ask if you want grilled or battered, you get grilled so make sure you specify.
If you really like your chips, Don’t bother going.
If you prefer potato scallops with your fish, go ahead.
