About
Panania Fish Market is a takeaway fish and chip shop serving the southwest Sydney suburb of Panania, and it has built a solid reputation over many visits from loyal regulars. The menu centres on battered and crumbed fish, calamari rings, chips, and burgers, with the Fish Cocktail Pack standing out as the signature item. The fish is cooked in front of you and is consistently described as juicy with genuine flavour, while the crumbed fish is noted for its generous size and satisfying crunch.

At Christmas time, the shop has also drawn praise for its prawns, which regulars have ordered in bulk and found to be fresh and succulent well beyond the day of purchase.
Service is quick and the staff are friendly and attentive. On the rare occasion an order has gone wrong, the team has handled it with genuine care and made it right. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and free street parking is available nearby, making it a practical choice for families and those with accessibility needs.

8 Reviews on “Panania Fish Market”
The food was very hot and fresh. It tasted extra good on the day. The staff was very friendly. We were missing an item when we got home and we rang them. They were very apologetic and took my name and replaced it when I went in the next time. I plan to continue using this shop for my fish and chips
1. Owner was unfriendly when answering my
questions.
2. fish was definitely NOT FRESH. It tasted old
chicken made of rubber that is dipped in
super glue.
3. Stingy small portion of old soggy chips.
4.. First time and last time ever
5. Tried feeding it to the birds, but they
seemed to know where the food came
from and flew away.
6. All the 5 star reviews were for the previous
owner.
7. I now have nightmares of going into a fish
market.
8. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Go
straight to Bass Hill Plaza for the best fish
and chips.
Ordered 6.5 kg prawns for Christmas and they were absolutely perfect. Fresh and succulent and left over prawns still perfect for Boxing Day. Always great food there.
It might sound strange but the battered fish tastes so good, though the fish had clearly been frozen long.
Still the food is good.
One of the best fish and chip shops I’ve been to (multiple, multiple times over mang years), period. Battered fish is always crunch, crumbed fish is massive and super crunchy. Burgers are super fresh and tasty, with loads of filling. Chips are great (sometimes a smidge greasy, but never anything bad). Price is well worth the quality. Quick service. Highly, highly recommend.
Best Fish and Chips shop in Sydney! The Fish Cocktail Pack is amazing, fish is juicy and has so much flavour, worker is very kind and friendly. I go here every week and they never fail to impress me, they are always consistent with the quality of fish and chips.
