A great spot to grab a seafood takeaway lunch.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh Oysters and thawed Small King Prawns. So delicious and sweet. We also enjoyed freshly cooked fish and chips.
The service was excellent.
We will be back again. Thank you. 🐟
We drove all the way from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour and were really excited to have some fresh oysters. By the time we arrived, most seafood places had already closed, so we decided to stop at Bananacoast Seafood in Toormina.
We ordered a dozen Sydney Rock ($26.50) and a dozen Pacific oysters ($28.50). The Sydney Rock oysters were nice and fresh, but unfortunately the Pacific oysters were off — they tasted bad and were definitely not safe to eat raw. We ended up throwing them all away.
The service was also quite cold and unprofessional, which made the experience even more disappointing.
Overall, I wouldn’t come back or recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh oysters — unless you truly have no other option.
Reasonable food but ridiculously priced. Two hoki , medium chips and 4 calamari for $46.00 only to see later this is indeed a ‘pack’ available for $34.00 but wasn’t suggested.
Worse yet, two of the calamari were the size of a 20 cent coin and hardly worth eating and certainly not worth $2 each.
Most of the order was disgusting wouldn’t eat it !. Payed for an extra 6 calamari rings as well as the regular seafood basket didn’t get the extras I payed for and mind you the 4 we got were horrid !. Will never ever going back very lucky I didn’t go n throw it through the shop
Epic FAIL
Battered fish was just ok, but quite small.
Grilled fish tasted like bait & not edible. In the bin.
Prawn cutlets were more like oil soaked compacted breadcrumbs. Didn’t taste any prawn. Not edible, in the bin.
Lemon wedges were great.
What a waste of money & an embarrassment for whom we shared it with as our guests.
Chips were dry
Seriously, we have never experienced worse.
Waited 20mins for a small chips, 3 dimsims, some garlic prawns and a spring roll that was not in the bag when we got home. Very disappointed today with out experience. When we ordered there were no other customers in store. Service was okay I guess. For our regular fish and chip shop this has left a very sour taste and I’m unsure if we will go back there again.
This is our favourite fish and chip shop, and has been for the past two years! I have read other reviews complaining about the size of items, but can honestly say that if scallops etc have been on the smaller side – a few extras have always been included to compensate. We cannot fault them.
Bananacoast Seafood in Toormina was a very disappointing experience overall, with the food falling well below expectations and the prices being far too high for the quality offered. Many of the dishes were excessively oily, which overpowered any flavor and left the meal feeling heavy and unpleasant rather than enjoyable. For what is meant to be a seafood restaurant, the lack of freshness and care in preparation was especially noticeable, making the food feel poorly executed and not worth the cost. While the service was average and not particularly memorable, it did nothing to make up for the below-average food or the inflated prices. Overall, the combination of very oily dishes, average service, and being seriously overpriced made this visit extremely underwhelming and disappointing, and it’s definitely not somewhere I would return to or recommend.
