This spot is an absolute gem! I stumbled upon it by chance, and I’m so glad I did. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the batter stayed crispy even after some time. The cooked tiger prawns were large, juicy, and bursting with freshness. Plus, the prices were very affordable, which made the meal even better.
What truly made the experience amazing was the seating area behind the shop. It’s spacious and offers a stunning view of Bowen’s beautiful seaside. I was lucky enough to visit around sunset, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this spot to anyone craving great seafood.
My mouth is watering thinking about the yummy mackeral we had here. Chips were done to perfection as well. We sat out the back overlooking the marina and seagulls. We came back the next day for their $20 kilo mixed local prawns. Mmmm! This is a must when visiting Bowen.
We wanted the fresh barramundi but it was finished so we ordered, a grilled fish & bug tail + 2 salads on the cashier’s advice as we didn’t wanted the chips; they ended up getting us only the fish & chips (+ the salads) and as we asked about the bug and said we didn’t needed the chips; they said they couldn’t take them back or refund because the fish was prepped as we had asked (aka grilled).
They were really rude with us ; made us wait so we ended up having to eat the food we didn’t wanted cold.
A part from that the atmosphere is really nice
If you like Trevally this is the place for you. Taste bud foreworks. And value for money not to be beaten. Loved everything about Birds, wished I had the kitchen to buy the other seafood available. Don’t miss this gem if in Bowen!!!
My fish was tiny for $14 & our prawn cutlets & bug tails were burnt (old oil used ) purchased half kilo of prawns and threw half in the bin the were bland and tasteless ! Would not recommend & I don’t know how it was voted best fish and chips in

The food is super fresh, it’s quiet expensive, the fish was fresh and prawns the salt and paper squid was my favourite the prawns where nice too. It’s just expensive. All this was like $85 the service is a little slow….
Delicious fish and chips! The fish was perfectly cooked, the potato scallops were honestly the best I’ve had, and the salt and pepper calamari was so tasty and tender. Such a great spot to sit and enjoy your meal with a lovely outlook. Highly recommend stopping by for fresh, yummy seafood!
