About
Hardy Road Takeaway is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Mount Sheridan, Queensland, open for both lunch and dinner with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options to suit most customers. Free parking nearby makes it an easy stop, and the shop is wheelchair accessible, which is a practical bonus for families and those with mobility needs.
The menu covers the classics done well. Fish and chips are the signature, and potato cakes have built up a loyal following, with more than a few first-timers quickly becoming converts. Calamari and dim sims also feature, and the chips are regularly praised for their generous serve. Batter quality and freshness come up often as highlights, with many regulars noting the food tastes freshly made rather than sitting under a lamp.
The front-of-house team gets consistent mentions for being friendly and handling busy periods with good humour. It’s the kind of local shop where the staff remember familiar faces and keep things moving without making the experience feel rushed.
It should be noted that a small number of regulars have observed the food can vary from visit to visit, with some meals hitting the mark better than others. That said, the shop holds a strong reputation across its reviews, and most locals keep coming back. Hardy Road Takeaway is family friendly and accepts card and mobile payments. Worth a visit for anyone in the Mount Sheridan area.

Hit and miss for me. The first grilled Coal trout I ordered was beautiful, cooked by the older gentleman. The second order was cooked by a younger guy and was not coral trout. The third order was also cooked by the younger guy and was not coral trout and still raw in the middle. I won’t order from there again unless I see the older gentleman cooking.
Seriously these guys do a great job. Food is always fresh and yummy. The young man behind the counter is super friendly and does a amazing job under pressure as do the kitchen staff… great job guys
I find the food is sometimes a 5, sometimes a 3. I give it an average of 4. I like it and I’ll keep going back. Friendly staff, not too busy, right next to a shop and bottle-o in case you want anything else to go with your fish and chips. I really like their calamari too.
I have always loved their food!! Its a treat for myself. But it seems the batter is getting way too thick. I like crunch but this is like super super crunchy. It often appears to over cook quick. Bit sad since they have had such a good reputation.
Always yum! Food is devoured so fast I forget to take a photo. Lovely friendly service. Will take a pic next time
Fantastic take away shop. The young adults who served us were very friendly. Food was delish! My husband who has never had potato cakes (fritters) is now a big fan. Chips were great and so were the dimsims. We will be back!
I ordered the fish and chips with salad. The fish was well cooked, crispy light golden battered fish was fresh nice and flakey. The chips was puffed, airy, brittle shell with bubbly interior and salad had a sticker with the date on the container that was couple of days ahead besides that fresh standard salad?
I have been going here since I moved to the southside in 2021 and it never ever had chutney on the fish burger, now it’s absolutely terrible, chips over cooked to the point of no potato in the middle, fish burger that’s drowned in some horrible tomato chutney, who in their right mind would put chutney on a fish burger, the fish is over cooked and tasteless, horrible service.
