About
Fresh Coral Seafoods is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Mudgeeraba, on the southern Gold Coast, with a strong reputation built across hundreds of reviews. The venue offers dine-in seating, takeaway, and delivery, making it a practical choice for families, locals grabbing a quick meal, or visitors passing through the area.
The menu leans heavily on quality produce. Homemade potato scallops and locally sourced Queensland prawns are among the signature offerings, alongside live oysters, calamari rings, dim sims, and deep-fried battered fish. For something a little indulgent, the deep-fried Mars Bar has plenty of fans. The chips are cut thick and come out crisp, and the beer-battered fish draws consistent praise from regulars and first-timers alike. The shop has picked up recognition for its fresh seafood, with award-winning produce a point of difference on the menu.
What comes up repeatedly is the warmth of the service. The owner is known for going well beyond the basics, whether that means walking customers through the menu or, on occasion, arranging a custom cold seafood platter late in the evening for a family arriving off a long drive. The venue is clean, well-maintained, wheelchair accessible, and family-friendly, with a kids’ menu and free parking on-site. Card and mobile payments are accepted, and Wi-Fi is available for those dining in.

On a lazy Tuesday we stopped in for lunch. The first thing we noticed was how clean the place was and how damn friendly and helpful and pleasant was the (apparent) owner. It could be just the friendly Mudgereeba influence but it was more than that, it was a genuine enjoyment for life and what they were trying to achieve in their outlet. The ‘they’ being the fact the owner said he and his wife ran the place and she was smiling and working away behind him.
We had one of the specials of the day and the owner pushed us into the value of it and never tried to up sell us to other higher priced offerings.
So we ended up with hoki, grilled ( no extra charge) with garlic butter, chips and potato scallop and mussels. As we ate there this was served on a beautiful crockery plate with proper utensils. Wow!
The fish was cooked perfectly, the chips were very nice but a few too many for us…good type of complaint!!!, the scallop was to die for with a great crunchy batter, and the mussels were the bomb. Well done.
Well done for everything, the whole package of nice, clean, great food and good value.
The kids were enjoying their fish and chips. It was delicious and they were happy with it. Friendly staffs.
Been to many fish n chips shop in Gold Coast . Fresh coral is by far the best one I’ve had! Extra cut crisp chips were divine so is the beer battered haddock.
The owner and staff were super friendly and lovely!
We were on the Coast for a family wedding. After driving for many hours and arriving late, we contacted this local seafood outlet for a cold platter. The owner of the premises personally attended to our enquiry with many text/photos back and forth to ensure the final product was perfect. Collecting the platter from the store allowed us to meet the front of house servers. Everyone was professional, polite and friendly. The platter was amazing. The seafood was so fresh and just the right size for two, although the fruit garnish was so plentiful, it served as our brunch the next day. I would thoroughly recommend Fresh Coral Seafood, fresh platter for two, if you’re looking to impress your loved one. Thank you to Platon and the team.
This place was found due to a lovely post on Facebook a few weeks back, about Gold Coasts best seafood takeaway, and it didn’t disappoint! The portions are very generous for the price, and it brings back memories of when everyone could afford the good ol’ local fish and chip shop down the street! The team of ladies were working non stop serving customers, and there were plenty of them! Located at the Mudgeeraba Shopping Centre, right next to the pub, down the stairs. The father in law was happy, and so were we! The place only sells fish and chip options with some sides, drinks, but no burgers. No biggie, the menu is big enough and tasty enough! Cheers team!
It’s a takeaway, tucked up at the end of a mall, near the entrance to Woolies.
But worth the venture…
The best fish & chips I may have ever had- that includes restaurants.
The food is cooked in Tallow – not oil and it really is not only better for you, it tastes amazing!
Got grilled fish with garlic butter+ melt in your mouth amazing.
Even the chips where next level. Would be a nice level for all our food outlets in Australia 😉
Till then, this is worth the trip. We drove there from Labrador and I’d do it again.
Note; don’t reme if they had some seats inside…maybe. We planned a park play & picnic with take away.
But when foods that good, I’d enjoy it with good company in the carpark 😂
Thanks guys. I’ll see you again
Don’t come here when you’re starving. It takes a good 30mins to get your order. Because the fish n chips are so good! The fish bites are ginormous. They gave me extra food too. Which was really nice. Batter is crispy, oily and salty. The girls are generous with the salt. Homemade sauces. It was enough for 3 ppl. I definitely won’t get half as much next time.
Totally disappointed in the food this evening. Ordered 2x Battered Fish and Chips and 2x crumbed Fish and Chips. Usually comes individually wrapped in meal (ie piece of fish with chips).
Order had 4 x Crumbed (no battered) Fish in one wrapped box, and one wrapped box with chips (which were no where near as good as they’ve been in the past). No lemon wedges at all. Ended up having to make alternate dinner for those that don’t eat crumbed fish.
