About
Sue’s Seafood & Takeaway sits along the Bruce Highway in Sarina, Queensland, making it a natural stop for travellers passing through the region as well as a regular spot for locals after a solid feed. There’s no dine-in seating, so the focus is entirely on takeaway, and the kitchen turns orders around quickly even when the rush is on.
The fish and chips here have earned a genuine reputation. Chips consistently come out golden and crunchy on the outside with that soft, fluffy centre, and the fish, battered or grilled, is cooked through without drying out. The menu stretches beyond the basics, with burgers also drawing praise and the kitchen willing to work with modified orders. Spring rolls are another highlight, arriving with a proper crunch. Portions are generous and pricing is considered reasonable for the quality on offer.
Sue’s is well set up for families, with a kids’ menu available alongside the main selection. Parking is easy, with both street and lot options at no cost, and the car park is wheelchair accessible. Card and mobile payments are accepted. It can get busy, particularly during peak meal times, so ringing ahead is a smart move before turning up.
A decent option for fish and chips in Sarina, and a reliable pit stop for anyone travelling the Bruce Highway.

Grilled fish, medium chips and 2 large spring rolls. $26
Very reasonable and delicious, I mean chips where crunchy & fluffy inside, fish was a large piece & not dry & the spring rolls cook perfectly with a crunch when you bite it. 😋
While the chips and potato cakes were nicely cooked, the price was ridiculous for the quantity received. When we approached the owner he insisted that it was the largest quantity and fits one measure. We explained that only 2 nights ago we bought $11 box at Mackay harbour and received more than his $16 box quantity in chips. When asked what weight quantity he used for measuring the serve he insisted he used a scoop that was used by previous owners and would not measure the serve we had to ascertain the weight of this serve. As experienced business people in the industry we know what quantity is standard and what price of goods are for such a business. Is a new owner and wants to gain back his purchase price asap is my guess.
Genuinely some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had
Very well priced, and very nice server
The two burgers we ordered were perfect, and we wouldn’t change a thing. They even accommodated my somewhat complicated order, add this take away that etc. Definitely be back for more. Great job.
We placed an order at 5:40 got there at 6:15 and the order still wasn’t ready. We had to wait for the order to be cooked which was a simple batter chips, scallops and a small chips cheese and gravy. First time we have had an issue here and we are disappointed. Not happy. Especially for $20.
Some of the best fish and chips I have ever had.
Every order the chips are somehow always that perfect golden crunch with that softness still on the inside.
Even the fish is cooked to the perfect golden no matter if it’s battered or crumbed.
Service always greeted with a smile and hello, if your hands are full they open the door for you and help you. Don’t get that service much these days.
Great burgers, nice and fresh.
Polite and freindly staff.
Recommended stopping in, we’ll be back.
