About
Renmark Fish & Chips has built a solid reputation along the Murray River corridor, drawing in both locals and travellers passing through Renmark, South Australia. It runs as a proper old-school fish and chip shop, and that’s very much part of the appeal. The food is straightforward, the portions are generous, and the pricing is kind on the wallet.
The fish and chips are the clear drawcard here. Regulars and road-trippers alike rate them highly, with the chips coming out crispy and well-cooked rather than soggy or overdone. The hamburger with the lot is another favourite, and the seafood basket is worth noting for its freshly battered prawns. The menu also covers smaller plates, giving the menu enough variety to suit different appetites.
Service is friendly and quick, which makes a real difference when you’re stopping in for a lunch break on a long drive. The shop offers both dine-in seating and takeaway, with outdoor seating available for those who want to sit down and eat. It’s a family-friendly spot with wheelchair access and free parking on site, ticking plenty of practical boxes for a mixed group.
People travel from Loxton and beyond specifically to eat here, which says a fair bit about the consistency of the food. For anyone moving through the Riverland region, this fish and chips shop in Renmark is well worth factoring into the stop. Check opening hours below before heading in.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while travelling through Renmark. Service was good even with a miscommunication on what we ordered but that was quickly fixed.
Seafood Basket was good, prawns are freshly battered and not crumbed, which was a pleasant surprise.
Chicken Yiros was really nice with lots of fillings.
If passing through will definitely stop in again.
Proper old school take away shop offering friendly service and great tasting food. Generous portion sizes and affordable option for locals or those just passing through.
Have to prompt staff when you are buying any of the combo offers incase they forget and charge you the non bundle sale price.
We had take away chips. They were very crispy and not overcooked. We didn’t have to wait long and the lady who served us was very friendly. The venue was clean with chair to sit on while waiting for our chips.
The irony. The irony of travelling 8 hours from Geelong to Renmark to get superb fish & chips. Absolutely superb. We visit a couple of times a year and have never been disappointed. Because despite Geelong being on the coast, everything here is overpriced, deep-fried sewerage in comparison.
Lamb Ab..received lots of lamb! Unfortunately it was thick strip’s and tough chewing. 😒 chips and gravy was yummy and the potato cakes were nice and fluffy and crisp.
Passing through we stopped for lunch.
I got the seafood basket, was delicious.
Partner got chicken, chips and gravy Chicken was abit on the dry side and he didn’t like the gravy but great chips. So lucky we got the gravy in a separate container and not over everything so it didn’t spoil the meal.
4 stars for the seafood basket
3 stars for the chicken meal.
Went to the shop with my family to get chips, my grandma is celiac, they say the chips are gluten-free but the oils are actually contaminated and she couldn’t get anything, they put gluten stuff in the oils and has a ‘desinated’spot for gluten free chips yet that’s also contaminated. Last time my grandma stopped here without knowing this she got extremely sick. Though the food is great. If you are celiac I recommend to not come here.
Proper old school fish and chip shop. Awesome staff, awesome food. Never had a bad feed here. My wife and I drive from Loxton just to get some good takeaway.
