About
Chef’s Catch has been serving local seafood in Beauty Point, Tasmania for over two decades, building a well-rated reputation among locals and visitors alike. The shop sources local produce and operates as a proper seafood café, with both dine-in and takeaway available, outdoor seating, and free parking on site. Families are well catered for, with a kids’ menu, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and a relaxed atmosphere that suits groups and tourists passing through the region.
The fisherman’s basket draws consistent praise, described as fresh, hot, and perfectly deep-fried without being greasy, all at a price that regulars consider very reasonable. Battered fish and chips offer solid value, and the menu stretches well beyond the classics. The cheeseburger has its own loyal following, with good bread, a quality patty, generous cheese, and the kind of construction that holds together properly from first bite to last. Loaded fries and desserts round things out, and the café also offers coffee, vegetarian options, small plates, and catering.
Dogs are welcome, which makes Chef’s Catch a practical stop for anyone exploring the northern Tasmania area with a four-legged companion in tow. The venue is open Wednesday through to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for lunch.
A solid choice for fish and chips in the Beauty Point area. Phone ahead during busy periods, particularly on weekends.

Yummy fish and chips!. $10 for good value battered fish and chips. Cheeseburger loaded fries were delicious. Lovely mousse only $6! Beautiful view and great service. Highly recommended and worth the drive.
This was some of the best fish & chips I’ve ever had! My sister, brothers and I all got the Fisherman’s Basket, and it was all fresh, hot, tasty, and perfectly deep-fried without being greasy – all for a very reasonable price. Chicken salt was evenly spread across the chips and the perfect amount as well. Considering we came in and ordered four of their biggest meals as well, service was incredibly fast (as well as friendly). There was also a park across the road with picnic tables and a lovely view while we ate. Would recommend Chef’s Catch to both tourists and Tassie locals visiting Beauty Point.
Pure delight of fish and chips at a very affordable cost. So sad they’re looking for a new owner. Hope they’ll find hands as caring and as lovely as them
Quality burgers, chips, and seafood. Just love the burgers here…the cheeseburger, done simply, can be gorgeous. And this one is. Lovely bread, great patty, loads of cheese, and perfect pickles. And it holds together. It feels solid. The chips are some of the best, crunchy and well salted (not overly salted). Keep it simple and it’s fantastic. Trying to upload photos…
What a great find. A lovely fish and chips shop with a view of the Tamar River. We opted for the Value $10 battered fish with chips. It was as the name suggests great value, delicious soft white fish in a crunchy batter and there was a generous serving of crunchy chips as well. Very happy😊
Visited at the weekend! Lovely owners and couldn’t do enough for us! All their staff were happy and friendly!
Food was excellent and icecreams delicious! Top marks 🏆🏆
See you again Julie ftont Launceston and the girls from Hobart 😍😍😍
Had a great lunch of Baramundi and chips here today! Fish was fresh and quality chips nice and hot.
A terrific eat in / takeway restaurant just down from the platypus place in Beauty Point. The service was quick, the staff were affable, friendly and helpful with their advice.
The location is right opposite the beach with views from inside, and outside and a park with tables on the nature strip. Perfect.
Importantly the battered flathead and potato cake was up there with the best we have had in Tasmania and believe me we have had a lot.
We will definitely be back as everything was 1st class. Thank you very much for the whole package of food, location and chat.
