About
Chigwell Milk Bar is the local fish and chip shop serving the Chigwell area of Tasmania, and for many residents it fills a genuine gap as the only spot of its kind nearby. The shop turns out classic takeaway fare, with fish and chips as the signature, alongside hamburgers with the lot and chicken burgers that have earned plenty of repeat custom. The burgers in particular draw strong praise, with locals noting that the ingredients come together just right in a proper Australian style.
The shop holds a solid reputation across a healthy number of reviews, which speaks well for a neighbourhood takeaway. Fresh preparation is a consistent theme, and the batter is noted for being light and crunchy. Evenings can get busy, so ringing ahead is a sensible move if you’d rather not wait around while your order is cooked fresh to order.
Takeaway and delivery are both available, and the shop is family friendly with free parking on site, including wheelchair-accessible spaces. Payment by card, debit, or tap-and-go is accepted, making for a convenient stop. Prices vary depending on what you order, so check the menu before you decide.
Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a longer wait.

Great little store, only one in the chigwell area, has great fish and chips. Well worth the wait. Ring ahead if you don’t wish to wait around for them to be cooked. Can get very busy in the evenings.
Cooked food was nice, plenty of flavour, nice light crunchy batter, but food not drained completely prior to wrapping..
With amount of oil left on food..
U had no way of escaping it.. could of used the left over oil in the bag to recook whatever you like..
Apart from excess oil and the shop requiring a staff member with OCD to organise the clutter..
Not bad!
Just take make sure u grab a packet of paper towel..and don’t look at the shelves, you’ll still enjoy the tucker
$7 of chips more like $3 ya don’t get much . Bit disappointed, but the crab sticks are nice and dogwood goes are nice but just the amount of chips you get hmmm .
I ordered the hamburger with the lot ($11) and a family block of Cadbury chocolate, the price was $18.24 total. The hamburger exceeded my expectations, this is a great Australian style burger and they nailed every ingredient. The bun, meat and salads were all fresh.
Great little takeaway… always happy to cook up fresh and go the extra mile.
No to bad for little take away shop but don’t expect to much
Wring advertising, a hot dog is not a Vienna sausage and not worth the price they are charging
Just had a hamburger with the lot and the wife a chicken burger with the lot.
Bloody awesome. Thanks so much 👍👍
