About
Westerly Seafood operates from a fixed truck on Strahan’s foreshore, serving takeaway fish and chips to families, tourists, and anyone passing through this quiet corner of Tasmania. The menu shifts with what’s fresh on the day, so the offering leans seasonal rather than set, which suits the location well. Flake and chips is the signature, and the seafood basket draws plenty of repeat interest too.
The chips come out crispy, and the scallops are regularly praised by those who visit. Fish quality can vary, with some finding it fresh and tender and others reporting the occasional dry piece, so timing your order for a busy service can help. Portion sizes have divided opinion, though one regular noted a small serve with salad was generous enough to leave chips behind. Wait times can stretch during peak periods, so it pays to be patient or phone ahead.
Outdoor waterfront seating overlooking the bay is available, making it a pleasant spot for a casual meal. For fish and chips in Strahan, Westerly Seafood draws a well-rated crowd of locals and visitors alike. Takeaway and kerbside pickup are both on offer, and the shop is family friendly.

Visit this fixed location truck for very special fish and chips. Changing menu of what’s good on the day. Not the place for people looking for cheap fish and chips that you might find on any high street. We had fresh oysters, fried Pink Ling, and fried scallops. All perfect. Their chips are delicious and they make their own salads.
The seafood platter and fish& chips are all good, the seafood is fresh and tender inside, the chips are crispy. The staff are friendly and patient, I’ve been there for 3 times. Highly recommend.
This fish and chip takeout truck is probably your best dinner spot in Strahan! I tried the pink ling fish and chips, and the seafood was incredibly fresh.
Ordered the scallops and pink ling. Both meals cooked well and served quickly. A good option for those who want a quick takeaway while in Strahan.
Delicious fresh fish and chips, costing $26 for a small serve and salad. I thought the size was generous, I couldn’t finish all the chips. Lovely to eat on the bay. There was quite a long wait for food when I was there and that was the only negative.

Westerly Seafood Fish and Chips have a limited buy carefully created menu for your evening dinner
Their prices are very reasonable and the quality of their produce is excellent
We had the seafood basket which was fantastic. The servicing size was great, enough for two and was fresh, crisp and hot and not at all greasy.
This is outdoor dining option where you eat on some select tables with chairs or eat on the Strahan foreshore.
It’s great to have nice hot seafood options on the West Coast.
The food is fresh, service is quick and polite and the portions are a good size. It ia far and away the best quality and value of any food outlet in the town. It is very pleasant eating seafood on the water in the quiet western town of Strahan on a sunny autumn evening. (As the weather turns a bit cooler that may change but I am sure the quality of the seafood does not). 5 stars.
Great selection of fish and seafood. Service was quick. The food was very flavoursome and it was obvious the cooking oil was changed regularly. Located on the Strahan foreshore – we pulled up a couple of chairs and took in the water views.
