We also got the GIANT, super generous chips!!! Needed something for the kids before they went to Braybrook library on a cold afternoon. Such helpful smiley staff too. The fish batter is dairy free.
Absolutely Amazing, After being loyal to another fish and chip shop for a long time, Their (the other shop) quality was getting low, with extremely thin pieces of flake and very crunchy, I decided to try a few different local shops.
The Brook Trumps Them All By Far, and is now my go to. The Lunch Box is more then enough to you up, But if you want to be bloated 6 fish bites for $5 is also a great deal, as they are a pretty decent size.
Battered fish wasn’t completely scaled and had bones in it, chocking hazard and horrible experience. Order was incorrect and soggy by the time we got home. Wouldn’t recommend especially for children or elderly. Worst fish and chips Ive had unfortunately.
The Brook Fish and Chips is one of those rare places that reminds you how powerful simple, honest food can be when it’s made with heart. I stopped in during the morning for a quick snack and ordered their flake and chips, not expecting anything extraordinary, but what I received was pure delight. The flake was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked with a crisp golden batter, and the chips were hot, fluffy, and beautiful cooked to perfection. Comfort food at its finest. Later, I returned for lunch and decided to try the steak sandwich with the lot, and that meal confirmed it for me, this place operates on a different level. The steak was tender and juicy, layered with fresh ingredients and balanced flavours that made every bite unforgettable. But what truly elevates The Brook isn’t just the food, it’s the people. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Alex, a warm and genuine soul from a proud Greek family. She treated me not like a customer, but like a guest in her home. Her hospitality, honesty, and welcoming spirit reflect an international standard of customer service. Even her children, who were there, carried that same family warmth and work ethic. The entire experience felt deeply personal and wholesome. The Brook Fish and Chips isn’t just a local takeaway, it’s a family, run gem that serves quality with integrity. It’s the kind of place you leave feeling full not just in stomach, but in spirit. I’ll be back, without question. Highly recommended 5 Stars!!!
Great fried and grilled fish, always light and moist. Potato cakes are cut on premises and they are a delight: crunchy out batter and fluffy inside. Burgers are tasty, fresh and fulfilling! Probably the best fish shop in miles, worth the drive if your not a local 👍
Note well this business is under new management, and the new owner, I don’t know her name yet, takes the trade of Fish and Chips seriously.
Yes this place does classic Aussie style fish and chips. The fish is good quality. Batter is crisp and light. Chips are cooked properly with a few extra crunchy ones to fight over. The oil is clean and changed regularly.
I’ve been here a few times now and very much enjoyed the flake and chips. The hamburger with the lot and plain burgers for kids were enjoyed all round.
I’ve had the steak sandwich – to be honest the owner didn’t cook this one and could have been done better ( toast was under done as was the scotch fillet steak from my perspective). The steak sandwich does come with high expectations though so I’ll try it again.
Fried dimmies were cooked just right too.
I’ve not yet tried the souvlaki.
The flake is very good and my family also liked the Barramundi.
Thank you for taking over a much needed Fish and Chip shop in the area and making it what it needs to be.
Another bonus, The Brook also does Uber eats, but you’re better off picking it up as cash is king at this establishment.
Flake 5 , potato cake 4, chips 4
One of the potato cake was elite tier and the other not so. Elite one was out of this world one of the best I had in years. If you keep it all the same size and thickness believe me you will bring in the crowds.
One of those places that is very hit and miss sometimes amazing but often fall flat. Always to much salt even when ask for little bit . Ask for extra crispy and get the opposite.
