The menu covers the classics well. Flake is cooked to a good size with batter that hits the right note, and the chips are reliably well seasoned. Dim sims and potato cakes round out the traditional offering, and the kitchen also runs a catch of the day that has included the likes of John Dory for those after something a little different. The food is described time and again as fresh, crispy, and consistently tasty, which is about as high a compliment as a fish and chip shop can earn.
The venue itself is counter-service and casual, kept in good condition and easy to visit. Dine-in is available with outdoor seating, and takeaway and delivery are both on offer, including no-contact delivery for those ordering from home. Awesome fish and chips, been having lunch take away from here recently. Very enjoyable and tasty, nice chips, great fish and a well kept fish and chip shop, highly recommend.
UPDATE: Went back today and had the catch of the day (John Dory) absolutely perfect, sweet moist fish, perfect batter. Thank you once again for great food.
This place is a local staple. The fish and chips are always top-notch, crispy, fresh, and incredibly tasty. I love how consistent the quality is, and the staff are always friendly. I have a few go-to dishes but it’s always tough to choose since everything on the menu is so good.
I’m not sure where some of the negative reviews are coming from, but Chris and the team do an amazing job. I Highly recommend this establishment, definitely an 11/10

but they are actually pretty good
chips were nice. flake was good size, not overcooked, batter was quite decent. dimsims are the standard and potato cakes are a good size.
overall really enjoyed this spot! price for a few things were a bit high but hey thats thanks to all the rise in cost of living.
would happily come back here again!
Swordfish owned and operated by Chris has to be the best Fish n Chip shop in the South East if not Melbourne.
The location, shop, food and service quality are second to none and I would highly recommend you try it out for yourself
Recently visited the store. Chips were disappointing. They were undercooked and left tasting stale despite being freshly cooked. Potato cakes and fish were fine. Not sure if I’ll be returning
First visit to Swordfish and certainly won’t be the last. Old school fish & chippery that cooks using lard. Not many around these days, so happy to find this spot.
Ordered grilled fish, burgers and the yummiest home-made potato cakes (thanks for the extras 😊). Loved everything about it, truly delicious.
THE BEST FISH & CHIPS!! My husband and I have been coming here for 18 years. Their food are always delicious and fresh. Especially their chips of how delicious it smells and taste 😋. It brings me back to my childhood when I first tasted chips at Moonee Ponds take away shop back in the 90’s. It’s crunchy outside and soft inside 😋. The shop is always clean and presentedly organised and affordable too. Always come back for more with my husband. I even recommend this fish and chips to my family and friends. Chris the owner and his staff are very welcoming good service with a smile and professional.
Chips unseasoned, souvlaki chicken burned and very overpriced. Go to Seafood bites. We normally do despite living around the corner from swordfish. Thought we would give it one more try but never again!!
