About
Bridge Fish & Chips is a casual fish and chip shop in Mordialloc serving lunch and dinner, with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available. Outdoor seating makes it a relaxed spot for families, and the kids’ menu means little ones are well catered for.
The fish is a highlight here, cooked with noticeably light batter rather than a thick, doughy coating. Regulars favour the grilled fish option too, which comes out soft, tender, and well seasoned. The chips are consistently well cooked, and the souvlaki draws its own following, with thick cuts of pork, lamb, or chicken packed full of flavour. Salad options are also on the menu, fresh and dressed simply. Sharing packs offer solid value, and the portions are generous enough that most people leave satisfied. Service is friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere that suits a casual meal without any fuss.
The shop has decent reviews across a solid number of visitors, pointing to reliable consistency rather than a flash-in-the-pan reputation. Free parking is available nearby, and card payments are accepted. For anyone after quality fish and chips in the Mordialloc area, Bridge Fish & Chips is a comfortable, family-friendly option with more variety on the menu than the name might suggest.

Nice little fish & chips joint. They’ve got a few different fish options, and the grilled fish was soft, tender, and nicely seasoned. They also have a few salad options, which were fresh, and the dressing went well with everything. Service was decent and quick. A good spot for a quick, satisfying meal.
BEST fish and chips I’ve had in years.
Cook to perfection.
The fish wasn’t covered in thick batter, the three scollops even had the orange bits.
Chips very well cooked.
Even came with a couple of slices of lemon included. Not an extra.
I’ll be back here for sure.
Simply delicious Souvs, thick cuts of either, pork, lamb or chicken, so full of flavour. We enjoyed the chips in our souvs and sat outdoors with a beverage purchased from the wine bar next door
We visit here several times every summer and the service has always been bland, but acceptable. This visit, however, was completely different.
The balding man behind the counter (possibly the owner) was arrogant and rude, despite the place being quiet. There were plenty of empty seats and only a handful of customers came through while we were there. As a business owner myself, I don’t accept excuses like “too busy” or “having a bad day” – paying customers deserve basic courtesy.
I mentioned the rudeness to my husband after ordering, and initially he brushed it off. But when he went to grab sauce, he came back angry after witnessing the same behaviour and overhearing the man speaking horribly to a staff member. I’d already noticed hostility toward her earlier and felt genuinely uncomfortable for her.
When paying (for an already overpriced order which included overpriced sparkling water), I asked for some tap water for my dog – something they’ve always provided in past years (actually, now that I think about it, I think legally all places must provide tap water on request…). Anyhoo…whilst this is a dog-friendly strip with outdoor seating everywhere, he irritably told me there was a bowl next door, despite one being empty in his own seating area. When I mentioned it was empty, he simply walked off, leaving me – a paying customer – in shock.
The meal itself was very basic fish and chips – and the most expensive we’ve paid to share something like this. What we calculated would be around $23 ended up costing over $41 for:
1 x flake, chips
side salad
1 dim sim
1 potato cake
2 very small sauces which wasn’t enough for us both but we made do.
**overpriced sparkling water was purchased separately as I forgot to order it when I placed the food order.
Even allowing for a few extra chips, the pricing was completely unjustifiable.
But honestly, we would have tolerated the high prices if the service was half decent – but this experience was ruined entirely by the attitude of the weeny little man behind the counter. We won’t be returning, and judging by similar recent reviews, this isn’t an isolated issue.
It’s Fish and chips. Hard to do wrong.
Service otherwise, terrible. The guy on the counter told us there would have been a 15 minutes wait. Ended up being 45 minutes. And don’t try to check if there’s something wrong with your order, they’ll kick you out.
We had ordered 2 fried fish and a salad, which was already made. 45 minutes to get two pieces of fish.
Un-be-lie-va-ble.
First and last time we’re ordering from here.
Went last night as myself and my partner were craving good old fish and chips. Met and served with a smile and some good banter, sharing pack for two reasonably priced for how much you get, food came out fairly quickly given they were so busy and everything in the pack was delicious! Fish being the standout! We were able to find a seat out the front, otherwise the beach around the corner is usually our table. So good guys, will definitely be back!
Unfortunately tried this place. The food was only surpassed by the service in terms of how crap it was. This was a “small” chips, which were cold and stale along with the rest of the food after waiting more than double the estimated wait time (40 minutes became just shy of two hours). No apology for the delay or the food. Go to Tommy Ruff instead.
Avoid. Cold, stale, dry and expensive. 40 minute wait for food that was just left under the hot lamp.
Anyone that knows me understands that it takes a lot for me to complain. Food has to be spectacularly bad for me to whinge.
Despite me pointing out my food under the hot lamp (A6 matching my tag) I was told no, not mine – we were waiting on the fish. Some fish just then arrived and was placed under the hot lamp and just left, uncovered. A long time later, someone came along and added that fish to the chips that were under the lamp. Result = cold, dehydrated food.
