About
Princes Drive Fish And Chips has built a strong reputation in Morwell as a fish and chip shop that locals and travellers alike return to again and again. With a well over four and a half star rating across a healthy number of reviews, this family-operated shop on Princes Drive has clearly found a formula that works. Generous serves, clean oil, and reliably crispy batter are recurring themes, and the pricing is noted as very reasonable across the board.
The menu covers the classics well. Flake (gummy shark) is a natural drawcard, and the potato cakes draw particular praise, with regulars rating them among the best they’ve had. Calamari, prawns, and scallops round out the seafood options, while the chicken garlic ball and lamb kebab give the menu some welcome variety. The grilled dory has also earned its own following. Vegetarians are catered for, and there is a dedicated kids’ menu, making this a solid option for families.
Dine-in and takeaway are both available, and delivery is an option for those who prefer to eat at home. The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, with free parking out front on Princes Drive making it easy to stop in. Card and mobile payments are accepted.
Travellers passing through the Latrobe Valley have made a point of stopping here en route to Melbourne, often calling it the best fish and chips they encountered on the trip. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep things moving.

I’ve had grilled flake from here before and it’s been very nice. However last night I got grilled flake, and it was all in bits, like it was leftovers. Then it tasted so sour, it was awful.
To top it off my two potato cakes were cold, and one was burnt on one side.
I don’t usually do bad reviews, I just vote with my feet, but this was bad.
I called to let them know they were selling fish that was off and they didn’t seem to care.
Popped in yesterday after coming out of hospital to pick up dinner. Got fish and chips. Small step to enter the shop. Parking out the front. Great customer service and tasty yummy 😋 food. Although I didn’t have all the flak the cats polished off the last bit.
Absolutely best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to, not one bad experience from this place. I live in Traralgon now and miss it heaps. 100% worth the drive, still hot and crispy! 😁
Shocking service – ordered 2 burgers and 2 potato cakes- got one burger and the 2 potato cakes. Called and got excuses about being “busy” and that was just tonight – other orders have been made incorrectly. I had to call and spoke to a CHILD – literal child – before her father who OWNS the place got on the phone after delivering the food. The excuse of being too busy is absolutely ridiculous! They are a take away shop that process numerous orders daily – because of this my husband went without dinner. How can a take away shop be too busy to do their job?! Seriously?! My husband had to get on the phone and tell them that they need to refund the entire order as they were trying to palm me off by saying “next time” we can have a free burger! How does that work for tonight? Absolutely ridiculous. The only good thing they did was refund our money.
These guys do the best grilled Dory I’ve ever eaten. Family operated business who always deliver great food. if in Morwell make sure you order from these guys. Very reasonable prices to! I’d give them 6 stars if I could.
Had it delivered. Prompt service, absolutely delicious fish and chips. Very generous serves, oil was clean. Best potato cakes I have ever had.
Stayed overnight at Morwell on our way to Melbourne. Stop in to get fish and chips and 2 hamburgers. Honestly, they were absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Keep up the good work guys. Thank you 😊
I ordered a lamb kebab and minimum chips the kebabs was quite good but couldnt make up for the chips. The chips were about 90% burned and very unpleasant to eat I got maybe a 3rd of the way and gave the rest to my chickens. The chips had no soft potato left inside as it had all been burned out and the best chip was nowhere near good.
