About
Batman Ave Fish Shop has been serving Sunbury for over three decades, and that kind of longevity speaks for itself. A straightforward takeaway fish and chip shop on Batman Avenue, it draws a loyal crowd at both lunch and dinner with food that locals rate among the best in the area.
The potato cakes here have earned a strong following. Made from freshly cut real potato, they come out with a slightly crispy finish that sets a high bar. Grilled snapper is another highlight, cooked well and full of flavour. The fish souvlaki, served with homemade roti bread, is something of a surprise addition to the menu and one that keeps people coming back. Chips are generous and consistently well cooked.
Service is friendly and quick, with waits typically short even during busy periods. Prices are reasonable for the quality on offer, and the staff are known for remembering familiar faces after all these years. Card and mobile payments are accepted, and free parking is available close by.
For anyone hunting fish and chips in Sunbury, Batman Ave Fish Shop is worth putting on the list. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep your wait to a minimum.

The best potato cakes around as a are real potato cakes freshly cut potatoes. I had a grilled snapper and to be honest it was one of the best tasting pieces of fish that I’ve had in a very very long time from a fish shop. Chips are always cooked well and crunchy great souvlaki’s and many other things of the menu
Ordered another fish souvlaki with their homemade roti bread and seriously – never had one like it!!
Potato cakes are the real deal – with real potato and cooked
to perfection!
Great customer service and not overpriced like some fish and chips shops in Sunbury! Don’t have to wait to long as everything is cooked fresh..
Keep up the fabulous work and thank you 🙏💛
I was in the area going to the bakery for bread and needed a quick and tasty lunch. That is exactly what was delivered by this lovely fish and chip shop owner. I only had to wait 10 minutes and my food was fresh and delicious. I have never been to this fish and chips shop before but I plan to go back again.
For me the best Fish and Chips in Sunbury, good sized fish always cooked well, slightly crispy potato cakes… not a chip guy, but do enjoy a few…
Used to be my favourite BUT after three times in a row of shocking Potatoe cakes 3mm of potatoe and 20mm burnt batter, I’m outa there! 3 stars as the flake is good and the chips I used to get were excellent.
The guy needs to smile once in a while. Make the customers feel a bit welcome
Food was decent enough other than my husband couta fish being full of bones and the fact the small chips was a pitiful size
35 years , these guys are fish n chips , friendly , and even remember an old face 👍
