About
Brandon Park Fish & Chips has built a strong reputation among locals in Wheelers Hill, with well over four and a half stars earned across hundreds of visits. The menu covers all the classics done properly: fresh fish in a crispy, well-seasoned batter, chips that come out consistently non-greasy, and calamari that regulars describe as soft and perfectly cooked. Potato scallops, sweet potato cake, and banana fritter round out the menu in ways that keep people coming back beyond the standard order.
The fish souvlaki and the house burger are two items the shop is particularly known for, and both have earned a following among the lunch and dinner crowd. Value is a genuine point of difference here, with generous serves at prices that make it easy to eat well without overspending. Families, university students, and groups are all a common sight, and the venue suits them well with a kids’ menu, dine-in seating, and a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance.
Orders are also available for takeaway and delivery, which suits the busy stretch of Wheelers Hill where the shop sits. For anyone exploring fish and chips in Melbourne’s south-east, this is one of the better spots in the area to add to the list.

My god. The fish is so fresh and juicy, it was cooked just nice! Chips are great too, crispy, not soggy for sure. Great amount of chips + 3 potato scallops + big piece of fish for $10.5. Great quality, great value, true hidden gem for me.
Thanks for the extra chicken salt by the way, truly appreciated it!
This place is a hidden gem! The BP classic Burger is a must try! The fish was perfectly battered and cooked to perfection! The chips were great and the fish souvlaki was delicious. Was supposed to enjoy our lunch at the park… Didn’t even make it there haha
I’ve only been to this shop a couple of times, the first time was earlier in 2023 and the second time today. Happy to say that both times the food has been pretty good!
I recall the fish and chips being one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne and the souvlaki I had today was pretty good considering there aren’t many options for souvlaki in the area. The garlic sauce in the souvlaki was delicious, the vegetables were ok (a bit limp) and the lamb wasn’t too salty but it was a bit dry. Overall it was still a very good souvlaki and cost $14 ($13.50 + 50c card surcharge) which seems ok these days.
Supposedly the owners changed hands not long ago but the quality of the food still seems good!
Update: The souvlaki here is so good I can’t stop eating them 😭

I definitely can recommend the fish and chip, sweet potato cake, banana fritter, and scallop to any fussy eater.
Since I have not tried other items, I cannot commend on them.
The shop is very clean, and the oil used for frying is always clear, resulting in golden brown crisp batter coating. In fact, this is a reflection of the owner’s medical background before he migrated to Australia.
This is another heart warming success story of migrants in Australia.

I have introduced a number of my friends to try the 2xButterfish with Chips pack. They all agree that this really is the best not in quality but also pricewise. I prefer to have it as takeaway, and complement it with some green salad.

The 2pie e Butterfish with Chips are the best value. So are the Scallops as well as the Banana Fritters.
The Sweet Potato chips has a different flavour and it is worth a try.
The staff that takes order on the phone ispleasant and courteous.

Business has changed hand. The existing owner was still around to train the new one. The fish & chips I very today is still the same quality.

Butterfish was on special today, it was very good value. The fish meat was softer than other fish.
I am glad that this fish and chips shop has not disappointed me. Thanks

I have been misinformed by a friend that the premise was for lease, so I decided to check it out whether it was true.
I am glad that the information is wrong, otherwise I won’t have a chance to sit down for an impromptu fish & chips lunch.
My wife decides to call the of friend who passed the incorrect information to join us, because both she and hubby missed having fish & chips a few days ago.
With permission with the boss, I take a few shots of the interior of the premise. The very clean shop front and the gleaming equipment are testimony of the owner operators who pride their business and livelihood.
The Butterfish and Chips is really first class. The batter of the fish is not thick, and fried to perfection. I always like Butterfish, because the meat is neither dry nor too firm. Both the fish and chips are fried to golden colour, and very crispy.
We have a great time catching up, and enjoy our lunch, under the unusually bright sunshine and “warm” weather.

I ordered and paid for a piece of Flake, a piece of Blue Grenadier a medium chips. My wife saw the family pack for two consisted of two extra dim sims and two cans of cold drink for just a dollar or so more. So my wife asked whether she could change the order. Without hesitatation, the lady at the counter said yes if we kept the same fish ordered. I then proceeded to pay the difference, and one of the guys, probably the owner, just said not to worry. What a great customer service!
The shop was used to be round the corner next to a Chinese restaurant. The new shop is brighter and with spanking new fittings. It is bright and looks clean with the spotless stainless steel hood and fryers.
It was a cold Friday night, and the piping hot fish and chips were just right for the occasion. Well done, and I shall keep telling my friends about this Fish and Chips shop in Brandon Park Drive.
First time ordering fish and chips in the area. I’ve tried so many fish and chips during travels and this one is just scrumptious. The ingredients are fresh, the calamari is soft and perfectly cooked, the chips are not greasy, and the spring rolls… are they normally this huge? Nonetheless, it was great. I ordered calamari with chips and salad and spring rolls. I never thought I’d ever have a favorite fish and chips coz come on. They are just fried food but there is a first time for everything. Definitely recommending Brandon Park Fish and Chips if you’re in the area!
Tried the Southern Fried Chicken Burger listed as a “Premium Burger” There was nothing premium about it. The chicken was overcooked and dry, No juiciness, No flavour, just disappointment between two buns. If this is their idea of premium, I’d hate to see what the regular burger is like. Wouldn’t order it again.
Been a client here since Arthur took over 50 years ago.
They have retained Arthur’s batter recipe for the fish.
The place holds on to the tradition of the Greek fish and chip shops of the 70’s.
Now owned and operated by Asians who have respected tradition.
Best in the area.
Great food. Outside is a playground/park to eat at. Cheap, fast and friendly. I recommend picking up rather than uber, for better deals.
