About
Banora Chinese Takeaway/Fish & Chips is a casual takeaway and delivery spot in Banora Point, serving a menu that spans classic fish and chips alongside a broad Chinese menu. Hot chips, potato cakes, and house-made dim sims sit alongside lunch specials, special fried rice, honey chicken, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, and mini spring rolls. It is a convenient option for anyone after a quick, affordable meal in the area.
Experiences here tend to vary. Some regulars enjoy the Chinese lunch specials and rate the hot chips and potato scallops highly, while others have noted inconsistency with the Chinese dishes, particularly the fried rice and spring rolls. The shop appears to be going through a period of change with new ownership, and opinions on the food quality are mixed. Ordering early in a session, shortly after opening, seems to yield fresher results.
Takeaway and delivery are both available, with payment accepted by credit card, debit card, and NFC mobile. Parking is easy with free street and off-street options nearby, and a wheelchair-accessible car park is on site. The shop is closed on Mondays and open for both lunch and dinner the rest of the week.
Check current hours before heading out, and phone ahead for delivery orders.

Love the Chinese meals here, especially the lunch specials. I also rate the hot chips and potato scallops her 😋 If you are nearby for lunch, I recommend you give this place a try with the chicken and almond lunch special.
This was the worst Chinese food we have ever had, tasteless fried rice, spring rolls saturated in oil lifeless chicken chow mein full of carrot capsicum and cauliflower
Worst chinese food..The food was very bland. The lemon sauce for the chicken was a gelatinous goo.. The beef stir fry was very bad.. The satay sauce had no taste at all..
The dim sims were ok..
Absolute waste of money..
Sorry..we will not be ordering from here again !!
The Google reviews are poor because the food is inedible from this place
Since the new owners have taken over the Banora Point Chinese, the quality of the food has slipped. Have ordered takeaway on 2 occasions and found the quality not as good as the previous owners. A number of persons known to me have expressed the same opinion.
Was there shortly after they had opened at about 4:30pm and have to say there were ZERO issues with any of the food we ordered.
Everything was hot and fresh and tasted great.
Chips were great, spring rolls were excellent, beef and chicken dish were also great too.
Staff in store were nice to deal with and prepared our food very quickly. 😁
They also took extra care by wrapping up our soups which is an extra bonus for the car ride home 👌🏻
Will definitely be coming back here again!
Thankyou 🫡
Worst meal I’ve ever had. The honey chicken was tasteless, HONEY, watered down and disgusting
The fried rice was also tasteless and the cashew chicken was waxy, watery and gross
Never buy from here it tasted like pure nothing
Don’t waste your money. $60 for a regret I’ll never get back. Even the flies don’t want it.
If I could give less than one I would! As every fish & chip shop in tweed closes very early, we decided to give their fish & chips a try. Ordered online, got there at allotted time & they had given my order to someone else, but tried to blame me! After a lot of chatter they recoiled the order. Underwhelming is a generous description, the fish was frozen fillets I could’ve bought from Woolies around the corner. There as SO much chicken salt on everything it rendered it inedible. Wasted $50 and didn’t even get an apology let alone a free bag of prawn crackers for my trouble!! NEVER AGAIN 🤮🤮
I used to absolutely love this takeaway establishment but honestly I don’t know if they’ve changed ownership or what the reason is but sadly they’ve gone right here downhill. Their old fried dim sims were loved by my whole family, this time they were half the size and I had a peculiar almost dish soap taste through them, I have to say the same about the fried rice it was very disappointing but the standout was the honey chicken, had to be the most disgusting honey chicken I’ve tasted in my entire life, some of it just seemed like puffs of flour put together and all of it had a strong bicarbonate of soda taste through it. We’re locals in Banora and had been going to this establishment for years, sad to say it but we’ll never go back now.
