About
Hassall Grove Takeaway is a casual neighbourhood spot in Hassall Grove, western Sydney, serving up a broad menu that runs from breakfast through to dinner. The signature bacon and egg rolls draw a steady morning crowd, and the menu spreads well beyond traditional fish and chips to cover hamburgers, chicken tenders, prawn curry, seafood sticks and hot chips. A kids menu makes it a practical choice for families, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
The shop is available for takeaway and delivery, which suits the area well. Regulars point to the affordable pricing and the variety on offer as the main drawcards. Recent feedback since a change in ownership has been largely positive, with many locals noting a marked improvement in food quality and warmth from the staff. The owners are known to be friendly and attentive to what customers ask for, and dishes like the prawn curry and lamb kebab have earned genuine praise.
It is worth noting that some reviews flag inconsistency, particularly around chip quality and portion accuracy on busier nights, so phoning ahead for larger orders is a sensible move. The menu highlights include the Hamburger with the Lot, Chicken Burger, Schnitzel Burger Combo and Caesar Salad, giving plenty of options beyond the usual fish and chip shop fare. On balance, the shop holds a solid four-plus star reputation across more than a hundred reviews, a reasonable indicator for a local takeaway in Hassall Grove.

Spent $60 on food that went straight in the bin. Fish cocktail were off and salad wasn’t fresh. They also didn’t put in hot chips I ordered. Very disappointed.
“I saw so many amazing reviews on Facebook since the new owners took over, so I had to give it a try! I had been before under the previous owners and wasn’t too impressed, but this time was a completely different experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish. I ordered two seafood packs, and they were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and not greasy like you’d expect from some takeaway places. The portions were generous and definitely satisfying. I’ll definitely be back!”
Lovely owners/workers, great tasty food. They have a great variety of food. Went here for dinner last night, and the food is delicious. Definitely recommend coming here.
We also got a prawn curry with rice. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo, but that was delicious as well.
Always closed since new owners, it’s a hit and miss if you find them open.
May be open during the day but it’s in the evenings after work when you want take away instead of cooking.
Old owners always packed in evenings.
10/7 – Sorry to hear about the operation, but a note on the door with dates and amended times would be considerate.
Been last 2 night and closed, have given up, found another, it’s a shame, been going there for many years.

Hassall Grove Takeaway is back!!!
The lamb kebab is absolute bomb, everything is so fresh and tasty! I thought we lost this one, but new owner just took over yesterday and this one seems like it’s gonna be bigger and better!
OLD REVIEWS WITH ONE STAR.
This has been my local spot for the last 25+ years, it’s so sad to recently see this takeaway closed more than it’s open. Hours on Google are inaccurate. Once a great shop, has turned to a not so great shop, I would like to add that this only happened after the new Caucasian owners took over, prior to this there was never an issue with opening or closing. In terms of the food itself, it’s a takeaway and they’ve kept the standard somewhat, however I wouldn’t recommend the new chicken tenders(extra salty). Everything else is still good.
You are losing loyal customers and in the process destroying a local favourite, either sell and move on and let someone who wants to run it, run the shop or start running the shop. I attended around 3.30pm on Thursday the 31/7/25 the shop was closed. This is just the most recent example of many.
