About
Ken’s Fish and Chips is a well-regarded takeaway spot in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, with a solid four-plus star reputation built on honest, generous food at reasonable prices. It has the feel of a classic Australian fish and chip shop, the kind where the staff are friendly and the food comes out hot and fresh.
The chips are a consistent highlight, arriving crispy and well-seasoned with chicken salt. The battered fish draws similar praise, with flaky flesh and a light, crunchy coating that holds up well. Portion sizes lean generous, and the value is a recurring theme among regulars. A fish and chip deal for one, including a soft drink, sits at an accessible price point that keeps people coming back.
Ken’s also serves breakfast, and the morning menu has earned its own fans. Eggs cooked to order with a runny yolk and a big, hearty plate are mentioned regularly, making it a local favourite beyond the usual fish and chips crowd. Lunch and dinner are the busiest periods, so ordering during peak times is worth keeping in mind.
The shop is family-friendly with a kids’ menu available, and the venue offers wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance, and seating. Takeaway is the focus here, with free parking nearby making it easy to stop in. For anyone in the Kurri Kurri area after a reliably good feed, Ken’s delivers the goods. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a wait.

Has a big breakfast here this morning n was sooo yummy. Eggs were cooked to order (soft n runny) and was such a generous portion . Absolutely worth it n was inexpensive aswell . 👍😁👍
Absolutely disgusting. The toast wasn’t even toasted, it was grilled, the grilled tomato wasn’t even grilled, the sausage was (deep fried???) Tasted like fish. The bacon was too salty and the entire meal was caked in chicken salt. Toast was soggy and bendy and the only thing that was remotely passable were the hash-browns. NEVER again will I be coming back to Harry’s Seafood Cafe. Even the sunny side eggs were cracked, nothing about this meal was close to “good” let alone great. Skip that place at all costs. Went and got a big breakfast the day after near the vets one street over. Way better feed with more food and it was all cooked to perfection. Do yourself a favour, go elsewhere.
PS: bonus pics of where the food belongs.
The fish and chips here are so good! Chips and batter were super crispy, hot and fresh with lots of chicken salt. Fish was flakey and so good. I ordered the fish and chip deal for 1 (includes soft drink) for $13 – good portion size. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
Oh my goodness it’s been years since I’ve had chips this good! Amazingly they actually managed to put enough salt on! Truly remarkable!
Delicious fish and chips for $15 – exactly what I was looking for on a roadtrip
Sorry to say …The worst fish and chips i have ever had. The fish was WAY overcooked, to the point the batter was way too thick “over crunchy”. The fish was very dry. Couldn’t eat it. Very disappointing.
Came here tonight, after the deep fryer at the pool was out of action, got a huge amount and very reasonable prices
Ken’s is great, an old school fish and chip shop, his always so friendly aswell, it’s my go to when I’m Kurri
