About
Neutral Bay Seafood has earned one of the highest ratings of any fish and chip shop in Sydney, and a steady stream of loyal regulars explains why. The shop runs as a takeaway operation in Neutral Bay, keeping things simple and focused on what matters most: freshly made food cooked to order.
The batter here is notably thin and light, applied fresh rather than pre-battering and leaving product to sit. That approach makes a genuine difference to the finished result, producing a crispy coating that holds up even hours later. Chips are fried to order too, and regulars who aren’t normally chip enthusiasts have found themselves coming back for more. Portion sizes are generous, with family deals that offer strong value for the price, particularly at lunch.
The shop is run by a small team, and the pace of service reflects that. A short wait during busy periods is common, though the food that comes out is consistently worth it. The setup is entirely takeaway, so there’s no dine-in seating, but the shop is family-friendly and accepts card and mobile payments for convenience.
Neutral Bay Seafood is open for lunch and dinner. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a wait at the counter.

Bro does it alone and still pump out quality like a beast.
We went in (again) at 7:15 and there was a line ahead but of course, being a perfectionist means we had to wait 10 minutes just to order.
Well worth it, never disappointed 🔥
Mouth watering crispiness, fresh flavours you’d expect from a top tier fish n chips shop in the area.
Finally a proper fish and chip shop in Sydney that is made to order and not pre battered.
You can really taste the difference with how thin and light the batter is in comparison to other takeaways in the area.
Great service and friendly owners. Will be back.
I’d say this one is now our favourite fish and chips shop in Sydney! Fish are made to order. Even the chips tasted freshly fried! I’m usually not a fan of chips, but chips here were so good. Lunch deals are amazing value for money too. We had battered barramundi and crumbed hoki which were both amazing. Owners are friendly too. Highly recommend!
Amazingly crispy batter and so generous for a family for 2 deal, we ended up having it for dinner later and it was still so good. The quality of the seafood was great, you can tell they have high standards. They were lovely people, we will definitely be back to try the grilled fish!
Neutral Bay Seafood is a gem, conveniently located right near the bus stop. Their $13 lunch deal (fish and chips with a drink)is a winner. The portion is generous, and the fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, with crispy chips on the side. Definitely great value for money! Perfect spot for a quick, satisfying meal.
Everything here was absolutely delish! We went for the “dinner for two” — the serve was huge, but I haven’t had calamari or prawns that good in ages. The fish was nice and juicy, and the chips were fresh as. Definitely a spot worth checking out!
Got takeaway grilled barramundi and chips with a side salad from Neutral Bay Seafood a few and everything was great. The fish was fresh & the chips were perfectly crispy. You can tell they use good quality oil from the clean taste and texture. The person who served us was friendly and welcoming. Overall, a good spot for quality seafood at a reasonable price.
This is my go to place for delicious, fresh crispy chips in Neutral Bay. The potato scallops are also elite. (I’m a vegetarian so can’t comment on the seafood quality). Prices are insanely cheap compared with other fish and chip shops around the area, but the quality is far superior. Always friendly service.
