About
Famous Fish (Costi’s) is a takeaway stall operating within a food court in Sydney, serving a compact menu of seafood favourites at a convenient central location. The seafood basket is the signature dish here, and it draws a steady crowd through both lunch and dinner service. Grilled fish, fish and chips, and BBQ octopus also feature on the menu, giving diners a choice between battered and lighter options.
The seafood is noted for being crispy and fresh, and the chips come out on the less oily side. Grilled fish served with brown rice and salad suits those after something lighter alongside the classic fish and chip shop fare. The food court setting means seating can be hard to come by during the busier parts of the day, and queues at the counter during lunchtime are common, so arriving a little earlier or later than the midday rush makes for a smoother experience.
Takeaway is the format here, and the spot is family friendly. Worth a visit for anyone in the Sydney area looking for a quick seafood meal.

bought a lunch at this place on 16th November 2021 by the time I’m about to Finnish the meal find a live bug crawling in the container.
took the food back to them the guy act in charges said sorry and explain that they washed the salad but maybe the bug stuck in it which there is nothing he can do about it.
I was shocked when he explains like this and give me the feeling is that not there problem more like my BAD LUCK.
I would never ever go to his place again and I hope anyone is still going just watch what you are eating
Been a customer to this fish chips shop for a while unfortunately had a really bad experience today. Believe or not all of sudden a moth jumped out from the box while I was eating 🤮 pretty sure it was hidden in the salad.
Delicious grilled fish with brown rice and salad, very healthy and tasty. But need to queues and not easy to find a seating place during lunch time, very crowded. It will be great if the rice have some gravy on it, if not will be too dry.
Despite bad service and stale dry fish first time I decided to give them second chance on 14th March, 2024.
And they were consistent.
Even after specifically pointing them which fish fillet you want they serve you the cold ones. They dont give the freshly grilled ones. It was inedible.
I had been regular to Costies at Barangaroo The Canteen. Never had such issues.
The whole food court where this place is located is brilliant, with countless options for varied lunches and snacks. However this is certainly one of my favourite vendors and I’ll be picking again. Although it was very busy and popular the service was super speedy. I went with the seafood basket, which ended up being massive and more than adequate for a lunch time meal. There was a good mix of items but it was a shame everything was battered – having a choice to have some of the items plain would have been really welcome, but naturally would slow down the speedy service.
Everything was cooked well and tasty, and it could easily be a sharing box for a couple of people. As a result it was actually decent value for money, and with a lot of lighter options also on offer is one of the reasons I’ll certainly be returning. Highly recommended!
Food is good but sits too long in hot box and is served cold
Not happy about this creepy crawler crawling out of the salad 🤢
My third visit and most likely my last. The food was fine for fast-paced place and a very convenient location happy to come back but won’t. Unfortunately, I felt unwelcome and have received a comment from a short man with less hair (not being mean), for actually choosing items which he commented with “you difficult” while not even being served by him. If he is the boss, no wonder staff follows. I definitely didn’t order the attitude I received on top of my order.
