About
Little Fish Shoppe is a compact takeaway and delivery spot tucked into the bottom level of the QVB building, at the Town Hall end of Sydney’s CBD. For anyone hunting fish and chips near the city centre, it’s a well-known stop that draws a regular lunchtime crowd and the occasional queue.
The menu centres on classic fish and chips, with fish cakes also drawing plenty of attention from regulars. Combo meals sit in the $13 to $16 range, making it one of the more affordable options for a proper fish and chip meal in central Sydney. The portions and pricing keep people coming back, with some diners reporting they’ve been returning for well over two decades.
Service is generally fast and friendly, which suits the pace of a busy CBD location. The shop handles both individual orders and corporate catering, with the latter proving a popular choice for office groups in the area. Families and solo diners are both well catered for in terms of the menu, though there is no seating on site, so it’s purely a grab-and-go setup.
Quality has drawn decent reviews overall, though opinions on consistency vary. The fish is the clear highlight for most, and the convenient location near Town Hall keeps foot traffic steady. Phone ahead for larger catering orders or expect a short wait during the lunch rush.

A nice authentic fish shop located on the bottom level of the QVB building (Town Hall end). I’ve had individual meals and corporate catering from here quite a few times, and both options were really nice. The catering was a big hit in the office, and the menu is quite reasonably priced. TIP: I would recommend getting a few extra potato scollops with your meal. ENJOY!
“One of the snacking spots I recommend if you’re near Town Hall is this hidden gem. As a seafood lover, I enjoy this place a lot. The prices are reasonable, and although the food can sometimes be a bit salty, it’s still tolerable, and I would recommend it.”
Food was great, fish was sooo good. But the worker was kind of rude, i dont know if she was purposefully doing it thats why i didnt rate the service one star, and ALSO THEY RATION THE CHICKEN SALT? LIKE HELLO? And there is no seating
Food is good. But I’m here to complain
I bought food 5:21pm and it’s says anything is $5 and seafood/salmon $8
I bought 1 fried rice and 1 salmon
But the lady charge me $23 then I realized after I went back to check the price . And ask the lady
She told me the price drop after 5pm but I bought 5:21pm. But she didn’t even acknowledge me and she’s didn’t even look me. I’ll always there buying food but this is the first time happened. They can’t even refund the money. That’s over charged
That’s too bad.
Great food. Generally good service too, however today there was a female worker that was rushing customers to the point it was rude. She had served me and I was quickly grabbing some forks before leaving as I knew they were slammed, but she yelled “next customer”, to push me out of the way before I could even get a chance to grab a fork. Little disappointed as it’s always been a great place to go.
I keep getting the hot, fresh tasty from Little Fish Shoppe over 2 decades. The food is tasty, it is 1 of the key energy uplift for lunch & evening.
Best fried fish, so flaky, fresh and crispy! Added chicken salt, best flavor. Perfect snack while shopping. Friendly and fast service. Sadly we are visiting from overseas, will have to come back and visit again.
I often buy and eat food here, so I know the quality well.
However, the fish and chips I bought today were not good at all.
The batter was soggy and not crispy.
I also saw a staff member put a clearly paler piece of fried fish from the front into my box.
It was really disappointing. The chips were also really hard.
