About
Big Tuna Fish Co. brings a step up from the usual fish and chip shop experience to The Entrance, on the New South Wales Central Coast. The menu leans into grilled and crumbed seafood rather than the deep-fried-only approach, with grilled fish and crumbed calamari as the signature items. Sydney rock oysters and potato scallops round out a menu that draws both locals and visitors passing through the area.
The cooking here gets consistent attention for its quality. The batter is noted for being light and not oily, the grilled fish comes out well seasoned and properly cooked, and portion sizes are generous across the board. A meal combining grilled barramundi, prawns, octopus, calamari rings and a Greek salad sits at around $35, which represents solid value for a seafood spread of that size. Service moves quickly even during busy periods.
Big Tuna Fish Co. offers dine-in, takeaway and delivery, with outdoor seating available for those who want to eat on-site. A kids menu makes it a practical choice for families, and the venue suits larger groups well. Free parking and wheelchair access add to the practicality of the location. The addition of beer and wine rounds out the dine-in experience nicely.
With a well-rated reputation built across a large number of visits, this fish and chips venue in The Entrance is worth the attention of anyone in the area looking for fresh seafood done well. Phone ahead for orders during the dinner rush.

Best fish and chips my partner and I have had. Ordered the grilled barramundi which came with grilled prawns, octopus and calamari rings with a Greek salad and chips 10/10. The flavour! We have never had fish and chips like this before. Already started eating before I took the pic. Also had oysters.. delicious and fresh! And they sell alcohol! Highly recommend!
The fish & chips were perfect! The batter they use makes the food not so oily & crunchy. Everything was fresh and appetising. (You have to see it yourself) For the price they are very generous and the best is the dessert! Portion is huge! Will come again and again and again!
Had battered hake and Greek salad.
Couldn’t eat the salad after the young guy doused with some horrible looking brown juice. Didn’t ask, just splashed it around. Send them back to hospitality training.
I enjoyed every bite of my meal. I had the burramundi with salad & Chips, it was 10 out of 10. Starting from the fish, it was cooked perfectly plus the flavour was delicious. The salad was perfect, I had the avocado & mango. What a great combination!! The chips were great too. Judging by my order, its the best fish and chips in the Entrance. Ps only $20 plus serving was big, I got to share a little with my family😊
Used to be a good store. Until recent times, tiny serve of snapper in our meals $21 with chips. Tasteless. Stomach upsets toilet afterwards. Not fresh.
Seems there has been a change of hands or ownership. Front of counter staff not friendly, barely crack a word. They don’t want to be there.
Love this place, I had already eaten half of it but very generous amount, they were a little busy but the food was ready so fast. Definitely recommend
Not happy with this meal. They are very busy tonight 28th Dec 2025. Bought 2 fish cocktails. One was a good size and one so very small. Usually good for 2 people but not this time. The chips are undercooked and I asked for plain salt and got chicken instead. Overpriced and not worth it.
Big Tuna Fish Co is one of those rare local gems that reminds you why simple, well-done food always wins. After a long day in the sun and a swim, this place absolutely hit the spot.
We ordered half a dozen Sydney rock oysters and they were spot on — beautifully creamy with just a clean hint of ocean freshness. Exactly how oysters should taste. The crumbed calamari was next, and honestly, it took me straight back to the classic old-school fish and chip shop days. Lightly crumbed, not overly salted, and cooked perfectly so the calamari stayed tender rather than rubbery. No fancy tricks, just proper, comforting seafood done right.
On the side were potato scallops, and these deserve a special mention. Mostly potato, not batter (as it should be), with a crisp outside and fluffy centre. You can tell care is taken with the basics here, which makes all the difference.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to chat, adding to the relaxed, local vibe. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
Best of all, the value for money is outstanding. For all of this, we paid just $35 — an absolute steal considering the quality and portion sizes. Big Tuna Fish Co is proof that great seafood doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. If you’re after honest, delicious food in a laid-back setting, especially after a beach day, this place is a must-visit.
