About
Hooked and Harvest is one of the highest-rated fish and chip shops in Sydney, sitting in the historic Rocks precinct and drawing strong crowds from locals and visitors alike. With close to five stars across hundreds of reviews, the shop has built a genuine reputation for doing things right.
The battered fish and chips are the signature here, and regulars consistently note the batter arrives crisp without being greasy, with the fish inside staying flaky and fresh. Calamari is another firm favourite, often mentioned alongside orders of grilled barramundi and Sydney rock oysters, freshly shucked. The menu stretches further than most, offering a choice of battered or crumbed fish, grilled options, and a range that includes calamari as a reliable highlight. For a fish and chip shop in The Rocks, the pricing draws genuine praise rather than complaint.
Service runs quickly and the staff are known for being welcoming. The venue suits families well, with a kids’ menu and changing facilities on site. Dine-in is available with outdoor seating, and takeaway and delivery are both offered for those who prefer to eat elsewhere.
Hooked and Harvest covers a lot of ground without cutting corners on quality. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep wait times short.

Absolutely loved this fish and chips place! The food was fresh, crispy, and full of flavour — perfectly cooked without being greasy. The portions were generous and the fish tasted so fresh. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Great service, great food, and a lovely atmosphere — couldn’t ask for more! Definitely coming back again! 🐟🍟
Oh wow … A decent fish shop in the Rocks!
Fresh seafood, good range of fish for you to choose from. Choice of battered or crumbed.
Sydney rock oysters were freshly shucked and brinely delicious.
Sure, you pay a slight premium for being in a touristy town area but the food is good.
Definitely worth a try if you have a sudden craving for fish and chips and you’re at the Rocks.
Had an amazing meal here with my wife — everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. We ordered the fish & chips, grilled barramundi, oysters, and calamari, and every dish was cooked perfectly.
The fish was crisp and tender, the barramundi was beautifully grilled, the oysters were super fresh, and the calamari was soft and flavourful.
On top of the great food, the owner and staff was very friendly, which made the whole dining experience even better. Really appreciate the warm service.👍👍🙏
A wonderful spot for seafood lovers — highly recommended! 🐚✨
Excellent fish and chips in a great location. Bought two serves of the battered New Zealand Hoki for $15.90 each (a bargain in The Rocks) and it came out promptly. The batter was crisp, and the fish was flaky, absolutely no nitpicks to be had about the chips too, have scarcely had a better fish and chips across the country. Couldn’t recommend this lovely small business more highly.
Overall, I would visit again for the tiramisu.
Food: We ordered the miso salmon bowl, baby octopus and the kids fish and chips. The salmon was really good and so was the octopus. The irony is that we had searched for the top fish and chips place and this restaurant popped up with 5 star reviews. Well, the fish and chips (particularly the fish) was the weakest thing we tried. The tiramisu was out of this world good. Not sure if it’s made in house though.
Service: the lady at the front was neither pleasant nor welcoming. It was a complete turnoff for me. She also plated my salad with no gloves or hair net 😳
Ambience: super casual dining, with outdoor sitting.
$$: affordable and worth it for the delicious food.

Amazing food and everything was fresh and delicious. Customer service was pretty good and staff were friendly. The only small issue was that one of our orders was missing, so we had to wait again — it wasn’t too long, but it would help if orders were repeated back to avoid this.
Overall, great experience and the food was amazing. Would definitely return.
Super yummy fish and chips in a convenient location! Great fish, calamari, potato scallops and tiramisu dessert. Only let down by the service, took ages to receive our food and service at the counter was very slow.
The best fish and chips shop in the area!
We work in the area and live in CBD, this shop serves fresh fish and chips, freshly chucked oyster. Delicious, clean and staffs are well attentive.
You cannot pass this.
