About
Leo’s Takeaway is a well-known casual spot in Toongabbie, serving up the kind of straightforward, affordable food that’s become harder to find in the area. The menu leans into classic Australian takeaway fare, with burgers and pineapple fritters standing out as the signature items alongside fish and chips, scallops, and housemade dim sims. Regulars rate the burgers as some of the best locally, noting they’re filling, tasty, and priced well below what you’d pay for a trendy alternative.
The shop is open for lunch and dinner, with takeaway service and free on-site parking. Family-friendly and easygoing, it suits groups as well as a quick solo meal. The scallops are cooked fresh in front of you, which adds a bit of theatre for those watching from the counter.
The dim sims are housemade and draw genuine enthusiasm from those who try them. Owners are known for being warm and approachable, and the shop also stocks a few everyday grocery staples like milk and bread. Oil freshness can vary depending on when you visit, so calling ahead or arriving during busier service periods gives you the best chance of catching food at its peak.
A solid fish and chip shop for Toongabbie locals after an honest, no-fuss meal. Check opening hours before heading in.

Absolutely awful food would never again buy from there and definitely would not recommend! chips were all green and yuck, the pricing is unbelievable $50 for 3 little burgers and tiny packet of chips.
One of the last real Aussie takeaway shops in toonie. It’s sad to see all of these places get replaced by Indian shops…Aussie takeaway has become like endangered species, first it was the tassie tiger, now these places are being poached to extinction!! Wake up people!! We need to keep supporting our local chip shops, god bless these merchants of golden fried goods.
Awesome little chips and burgers joint.
The owners are friendly, the prices can’t be beat and the burgers are tasty and filling.
In a market saturated with $20 “modern” burgers, sometimes you’d be happier with a classic Aussie burger for half the price.
17/10, will be back for lunch the next time I’m in Toongabbie.
Not one to be negative but was pretty dissatisfied with the quality of the bacon & Egg roll I purchased for my daughter.
Not a fan of someone chucking the bacon on a cold hot plate and searing it for 5 minutes, pretty amateur or just lazy if you ask me.
The bun was as flat as a rack and looked like it had been thrown into Bungaree rd prior to being given a 2nd life as an attempted B&E roll.
So I was already a little bewildered by the cooking method then came the aftershock.
Step to the register to pay my dues and owner part 2 says $9.50 ……
Once I picked myself up off the ground after a near death experience I paid their utter extortion fee and left.
Honestly I am all about businesses being profitable and making ends meet but how could a family with 2 or 3 children cop near $30 for 3 rolls ?
Sorry but will never stop here again.
Righto Geezer👊
The Best Burger we have had in a veryyyyyyy long time.
The owners are so lovely, very easy to talk to. I was given a homemade Dim Sim to try and i must say That was the best too better than some Chinese restaurants i will be going back for more and to also try the Homemade Spring Rolls i bet they are just as good. A shame they are not open on Sundays or i would be back there tomorrow….

It’s an ok place. Fish and chip shops and becoming rare. So I’m glad this place still exists.
Only had chips and scallops, hopefully ther burgers are better. Very nice owners, service very friendly and welcoming. Large chips is pretty small. Decent prices though.
Gone downhill since Leo sold up to the Chinese couple. Quality is utter garbage . Food comes out uncooked, burger meat smells like something out of a sewer. Do not eat here
Best burgers in town beats a Mecca’s any day of the week. Love the scallops too and you can see them cook it in front of you. Plus your able to pick up some milk and bread too.
