About
Fishies is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Alexandra Hills, quietly situated inside a community shopping centre with free parking and wheelchair access. It might take a newcomer a moment to find, but regulars in the area have long since worked that out, and many of them have been coming back for years. The shop holds a solid four-plus star reputation across a good number of reviews, which says plenty for a suburban chippy.
The battered fish and chips are the signature draw, and the fish is praised for its freshness. Battered mussels and hamburgers round out a menu that goes beyond the basics, and the chips are the kind that keep people from straying to competitors. Portions are generous and prices are considered reasonable, making it a practical choice for families. A dedicated kids’ menu supports that, and the casual dine-in space means there is no rush to eat on the footpath.
Staff are noted for being friendly and approachable, and card payments are accepted. Both dine-in and takeaway are available, so the shop suits a sit-down meal just as well as a quick order to take home.
For anyone living in the Redlands area or passing through Alexandra Hills, Fishies is the kind of local fish and chip shop that fills a gap once you find it. Check opening hours below before making the trip.

Great local business. Have tried other fish and chips in the area but nothing beats fishies. Have fed my family here for years. Service with a smile. Big friendly baby giant always great to have a chat with
We are local Alexandra Hills residents for more than 10 years. From past experiences, we know that the food quality is amazing and the staff are really friendly. Until today. Today me and my husband made an order by phone, and I said that we would pick up our order at around 7pm. We arrived at 6:40pm, and it turned out that the young lady who was at the cash register was also the person that I talked to over the phone. Once we arrived she told us that my order was lost, and we said it’s fine. We made a new order. After us there was a big line waiting to order. In the end, everyone that were behind us had already got given their order, and me and my husband were the only customers remaining in the store (even though I was the first one in line). We ended up waiting 35 minutes for our order! We eventually got our order, but we got no apology for the long wait(this was still the young lady that served us).
Unhappy with service…
Our favourite local Fish & Chip shop. We particularly love the grilled season cod and get it in family pack – it is outstanding value as you get calamari, potato scallops, tartare & lemon with the packs. The fish is fresh and the chips always cooked to perfection. We usually phone our orders through ahead of time as this popular shop gets busy at peak times.
FISHIES is a hidden treasure. This little fish and chip shop is tucked away in a community shopping centre, but it is well worth finding. Parking is ok, the centre has an entrance that is routed behind the buildings so be careful on the corners. Watch out for kids on skate boards or bikes.
The food is fantastic, reasonable prices and obviously carefully prepared and cooked. We got ours extra hot straight from being cooked and it was still hot when we got to our destination. The fish was so yummy and so fresh. YUM! The chips were great, complimentary lemon was well received.
They accept card payments which is a real winner. Staff are friendly and helpful, the shop seems busy so lots of people trust them for their dinner.
We will be back.
45 minute wait for my food to be wrong. Missing half of what I ordered. Other then that it is not greasy like other shops quite nice
Great little shop! Food is awesome.
Best fish and chip shop around. I spent years trying to find a new shop after all my favourites shut. I then moved to Alex Hills a while ago and found Fishies. Haven’t been anywhere else since! Great food. Great prices. Great staff.
Hands down the best hamburgers in the Redlands.
Fishes on Vienna Road at Alexandra Hills is a little local shop that absolutely punches above its weight.
The food is exceptional — fresh, well cooked, and full of flavour. No nonsense, no shortcuts, just really good burgers done right. Every time I’ve been there it’s been spot on.
If you’re anywhere near Alexandra Hills and feel like a proper burger, this place is well worth stopping for. Highly recommended.
