About
Maria’s Fish & Chips sits in Burpengary, QLD, and draws a steady crowd with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available. Outdoor seating and kerbside pickup add to the convenience, and the shop is open for lunch and dinner daily, with a kids’ menu making it a practical choice for families. Free parking and wheelchair-accessible facilities round out the practical side of things.
The menu leans on solid classics. Whiting, snapper, and barramundi are the fish options, joined by calamari and a couple of burger options including the Steak Lot Burger. The battered fish is what most regulars come back for, with the batter noted for being light rather than thick and greasy, and the fish itself cooked to stay moist. The calamari also draws regular praise. Chips get more mixed feedback, and the steak-based options have left some visitors less impressed.
Quality at Maria’s can vary from visit to visit, which is worth keeping in mind. When it’s on form, the fish and chips are a solid feed at a fair price. On off days, some orders have come out oilier than expected. Service experiences also differ, with some visitors reporting a friendly counter and others less so.
For anyone in the Burpengary area after a straightforward fish and chip shop meal, Maria’s remains a busy and accessible option. Phone ahead during the dinner rush.

Has really gone down hill and fast after changing ownership multiple times. soggy, oily food and no chicken salt multiple times when requested. Smaller and smaller servings each time, have left feedback instore and was just told we were wrong. Photo was of what was supposed to be $8 of chips with salt and clearly was neither
The fish is fresh, awesome calamari rings, and soft scallops.
The chips are pretty average, but I’m not huge fan of chips anyway.
This is a pic of the quality one gets nowadays.. food was cold and fish dis-membered as picture clearly shows. Waste of money and going straight in the bin… They need to up their game to keep loyal customers!
Chips were bright yellow from the old oil. So much so that i could smell the oil before they handed me my pack.
The service was by far the rudest I have encountered. And i travel that’s saying a lot.
Any the sauce they sell you for 1$ can cote about 4 chips 🍟 before finishing.
The fish was overcooked and smelly like it’s been sitting in a window for a while.
Service was welcoming , friendly and helpful. We had a large order and didn’t have to wait very long for it to be prepared.
The fried food was overly oily and the fish bites had an unfamiliar fragrance. We paid for 1kg of chips and received what looked like a minimum chips. Even though the burgers were packed with salads the burger patties were tasteless and half the size of the buns. We didn’t really enjoy the meal and in our opinion it was not very good value for money or good food.
Great customer service from young guy.
Amazing Battered fish and chips for dinner. Batter was perfect, not too thick and fatty. Fish cooked perfectly and still moist.
Chips were yum!
Have been multiple times for lunch as well.
Always been happy and full!
We will continue to travel from Caboolture South as our local fish and chip place always disappoints.
Gone down hill since new centre opened, chips tasted so bad. Either bad oil or bad cheap chips, I use to like the place bit sad
Overall I have found the fish and chips from here quite good quality. I am not so keen on their steak sandwich – a very disappointing tough, grizzly steak and the salad minimal and just thrown on with no care for the overall presentation.
