About
Snapper And Snacks has built a strong reputation as a much-loved fish and chip shop in Carindale, Queensland, with a loyal following that keeps coming back for the battered fish and chips. The batter is consistently praised for being light and crisp rather than thick and heavy, and the chips come out golden and well-seasoned. For those who want an extra-crispy finish, the kitchen delivers on that request every time.
The menu includes prawns and calamari alongside the classic battered fish, and the couple pack, which bundles generous portions of fish, prawns, calamari and chips with drinks, offers solid value for money. Service is quick, which makes the shop a practical choice for a weekday lunch or a fast dinner. The owners and staff are known for their warm, friendly manner, and the shop has the feel of a genuine family business where regulars are recognised and welcomed.
Snapper And Snacks caters for dine-in and takeaway, with outdoor seating available for those who prefer to eat on the spot. The venue is family friendly with a kids’ menu, and the space is wheelchair accessible. Solo diners and groups are equally at home here. With a strong reputation among locals and a well over four and a half star rating from more than a hundred reviews, it draws people from well beyond the immediate neighbourhood.
For anyone around Carindale searching for reliable fish and chips near me, this one is worth the detour. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid the wait.

Nothing special here. Friendly person, parking available and it stops there. Chips is not crispy and the most disappointing thing is the fish does not taste nice, probably because it’s ALL frozen, and not the good quality frozen. I feel very sad. I’d rather have KFC across the road next time.
Tasty fish, quick service. Good portion for the couple pack, which included 2 good portions of cod, 2 prawns, 4 calamari, a load of chips, 2 cans – $27. Batter on fish was nice, not too thick. Outdoor setting is not that nice, like a full on restaurant. Just 2 tables, literally like a cute tuckshop/ in the 80’s/90’s, it’s not a criticism, just nolstagic – would visit again.
Honestly underrated fish & chips! Great value, fast service, lovely owners, delicious fish, the batter is light and crisp, not too heavy and the chips are just perfect!! My Kiwi partner has finally found a place that can be a regular spot!!!
Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Been here a few times randomly working in the area. Absolutely bussin’!
3 stars isn’t entirely bad, as I thought the chips and fish I ordered were nice, but nothing really stood out to me. Still, nice to have when you are looking for cheaper foods.
The best fish and chips in the area. Friendly owners, crispy chips, great value for money, light & crispy batter.
My favourite fish & chip joint (Petes Seafood, Carina) has been closed for 2 months. So, based on the reviews I thought I’d give this place a try. I ordered a battered cod, dim sims & chips. The batter on the cod was thick & burnt, the dim sims were covered thick in batter too 🙄. I didn’t realise dim sims ‘should’ be battered? The chips were the only thing eatable. I’ll have to continue to wait till Petes Seafood opens, again.
She is one of the sweetest people you could meet, me and my family have been coming here since I was a kid! Ever since we got here she became our go-to for a quick, cheap and delicious lunch. We’ve moved around and don’t live as close but we still come as often as we can!! Such a homey atmosphere, and their chicken salt is to die for. Would 100% recommend x
