About
Julie Street Seafood Takeaway & Cafe sits in Crestmead and draws a steady crowd to one of the area’s well-regarded fish and chip spots in the Logan region. With over 390 reviews and a solid four-plus star reputation, it has built a following among locals who return for the value and portion sizes as much as the food itself.
The menu covers the classics and then some. Battered barramundi is a crowd favourite, often praised for generous serves and well-cooked fish. Potato cakes, known here as potato scallops, are a regular add-on and tend to disappear fast. The chips are described as not oily and come in decent quantities, particularly in the 6-pack fish and chips deal that regulars rate highly. The works burger also gets attention, arriving with pineapple, beetroot, and a juicy patty at a price that doesn’t disappoint. Seafood sticks and potato fritters round out the snack-style options for those who want a bit of everything.
Like many busy suburban takeaways, consistency can vary across visits. Some orders land perfectly, others less so, and service speed at the counter has been noted as uneven during peak times. That said, the shop is family-friendly, offers dine-in alongside takeaway, and has outdoor seating, wheelchair access, and free parking, which makes it a practical choice for groups and families in the area.
Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a wait, especially if you’re ordering a larger platter.

Nice size works burger, has everything a works burger should have including pineapple and beetroot. Patty was juicy also. Not to big and not too small just the right size and ….price. little slow on keeping an eye on front counter before I was noticed before served. But great burger.
Large portion and so tasty. Really recommend this business.
The price is really good also and I didn’t expect that big platter.
Will definitely order again
Really disappointed with the food served from Julie St. Ordered a battered Flake, $10 chips and hamburger with the lot. Flake was horrible and inedible, 80% batter and small fish inside was hard rubbery and couldn’t be eaten at all, looked and felt like a very old piece of fish. Chips were soggy, chewy and unsalted, really disappointing. Only part positive was the hamburger.
Never again ,I’ve had some bad fish but this was the worst . I’ve had frozen fish that was fresher than this and at $9.50 a piece. Had to repeat my order three times still didn’t get it right .
Went today and got Battered Barra and chips with 2 potato scallops / cakes. Heaps of Barra and chips. All was cooked to perfection. They never miss. Fish depot at Park Ridge are good but this is closer and just as good.
I phoned an order in about 626pm I arrived about 640pm I ordered 1 burger 1 cheese burger 6 scallops and 5 calamari was told 15 min I expected longer so when I arrived the had just put the fried stuff in the hot box and was told me won’t be long just waiting on my burgers.
It was busy so I thought no worries I didn’t get my food untill 7pm the food was cold and dry that was in the hot box because it had sat for too long!
what made matter worse they missed another guys order called him up and pulled his food out of the hot box and he had a go at them because he had waited and the burger was in there for 20 odd minutes so in the hot box after he had asked if that was his order in that moment the lady come up with my 2 burgers that were fresh and I was waiting on gave him one of mine and gave me the old soggy burger that had god only knows how long it had been in there because it was there when I got there.
They then insisted they didn’t give me that one but I watched the young girl with red hair do it and then the Asian lady argued that it didn’t happen. I will never be back our food was cold dry and disgusting it was a waste of money and my time. DONT WASTE UR TIME
I use to love going here but not anymore.
I ordered 3 burgers and chips over the phone and was told 10 minutes. Amazing right.
Then I get there and I was asked what I ordered, 3 burgers and a chips, extra well done, sure no worries ill go check.
Came back and was told it won’t be long.
10 minutes later 2 burgers and chips were given to me. Uhh I ordered 3 burgers.
Ohh im so sorry what else did you order? The phone plays up a bit.
Ok, sure a chicken burger, please. Sure ill get that on now and won’t be long.
Another 10 minutes passes and I was given the two burger and chips out of the hot box along with the third burger.
I was like ok whatever, I have just moved two houses, I need food.
I get home home and found that my chicken burger was actually a fish burger.
How the actual do you get fish from chicken.
Called up and got all the apologies under the sun..
Yeah, the chips were also half cooked also soggy from sitting in the hot box for 10 minutes.. how long does it take to deep fry a bit of chicken that your staff didn’t take the order correctly..
I have worked in fish and chip shops and would be appalled at the service the staff were producing.. no care factor at all. Don’t forget the food pays for your wages..
Won’t not recommend!
