I don’t know if this is just for chicken salt or salt in general but I find it ridiculous that a fish and chip shop charges 10 cents for salt in general then charge $1 for a small tub of salt when you ask for ‘extra salt’. Then charged $5 for a “large gravy” that was half filled and cold. Overall an underwhelming experience and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone else. There are much better fish and chip shops out there.

I personally would not be recommending. $80 order wasn’t worth it

Order a steak works burger and egg wasn’t on it as it should have.

The bacon was rubbery and dry on both burgers the steak was tough dry and no flavour. The sauce so soaked into the bun and the bun was chewy as well.

I order both burgers as a combo and they didn’t have the chips with it and also ordered a large gravy plus gravy added in the kids meal. And the staff member was admit that the gravy was with the kids combo which it was but my large gravy was not there.

I rather spend $80 on maccas then what I ordered/received here tonight.

I will also note it was not busy so that’s not the case

Fish D’lish seems to get quite a few negative reviews. Our first order with them was actually really good. Prices were more expensive than expected, but the food was pretty good. A decent share of chips for the money, very good fish grilled to perfection. The chicken burger could have used a little more mayo, but that’s being knit picky. I was quite pleased. $70 to feed two people is a bit rich, but we do eat a lot. At this point, I would have refuted all the negative reviews on here, but then…

2nd time ordering. This time on a Sunday, midday. Service in store was disorganized. The order needed to be checked and corrected. We took the food home and it was much worse than the first time. The fish was rubbery and overcooked. The chips were rushed and undercooked. The bun on the burger was evidently very close to its use-by date or maybe left out overnight. We made some concessions as it looked like perhaps it was a junior staff day. They could be in need of more training.

A couple of weeks later, we give them a 3rd shot. Mid week order, adults working. Person working the counter looked miserable. Food took longer than usual. That’s okay if the food is top notch. We take it home. Somehow worse than the second time. Chips went from undercooked to very overcooked. Fish was cold as it was evidently cooked first and allowed to sit. Chicken burger roll was rock hard, completely inedible. No mayo on the burger, just lettuce and chicken. Seafood sticks were leathery. Man, such a disappointment.

It’s really hard to endorse a place like this. They have the potential to be excellent, as evidenced with our first visit. But there’s also evidently a gap in training or quality control, or the level of care. I don’t wanna tear this place down, every business has it’s rough spots. But i hope the owner is paying attention. I hope they take on board some of the feedback seen in these reviews.

You guys are the local fish and chips shop. Your rapport with customers and the consistency of your food will make or break your business. Given the spate of negative reviews, and this being representative of only a fraction of those willing to provide feedback, I would be quite concerned. If you burn through your local residents, you’re gonna be dependent of Jimboomba residents making the trek to keep things afloat?

When a place diversifies its menu too broad, that’s a sign that they can’t stand behind a couple of strong items on the menu. You know when you see a “pizza shop” that also sells kebabs and fish and chips, its a sign that their pizza probably sucks. The same goes for fish and chips places.

If you do 5 different types of fish, but 26 other types of burgers, and hotdogs and wraps, and then pasta, and 25+ side snacks, and milkshakes etc. It says you can’t stand behind your fish. It also contributes to why some of the food might taste old. It can also explain some of the inconsistencies with cooking as there’s so many different items going in the deep fryers, likely being cooked side by side. It also explains why many of these places have trouble staying profitable due to inventory costs.

If Fish D’lish could simply focus on a few high demand, high volume, high quality items, they could simplify their inventory, reduce stock age, reduce some of their expenses and wastage, and not need to gouge on sides such as $5 gravy, or $2.50 for tomato sauce, or extra for salt to make up for some of these costs. This could make customers a bit happier with their bills. Then, with less variety to cook, the cooking process can be simplified and can refocus on the quality and consistency rather than the sheer quantity of food. Have a think about it.

The best fish and chips in the area.
3 years ago I moved up from Victoria and have not been able to find anything worthy of raving about.
Randomly came across this fish and chip shop and it is the best I’ve had in a long time. Friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommend!

Very disappointing. I purposely ordered the family pack online for a pick up at 5:45pm on a Friday so I wouldn’t have to wait at the store. However, when I arrived at 5:30 to let them know I was there they had no one on the front counter just two people out back who ignored my presence for 10mins which by this time there was another lady waiting as well. Then when the young girl finally came out she said she would check on my order but never came back. I ended up waiting for an entire 30mins for my order all the while watching others come order and leave with their fish and chips. I asked the older lady what the ETA of my order was which she said was 3mins. To her credit she called out to the kitchen to hurry but I still waited another 10mins before receiving my order. Then when I get it home the crumble fish in comparison to the other battered pieces was so tiny that it was beyond funny. I won’t be wasting my time or money here every again! Customer service matters!

Worse meal we have ever eaten. How hard is it to provide what the Customer ordered? Very apparently. Poor quality of food for the price and they don’t always use the correct utensils when cooking your burger. Won’t be eating here again!

Have ordered at least 3 times before from here, each time the wait was 30 – 40 minutes. This time I thought I’d order via their website, I ordered 1 x burger, sweet potato fries and 2 x battered snapper 29/11. Once paid tracking on website changed to cooking so just had to wait for complete/ready. I waited 10 minutes at home before driving there then waited in car for about 20 minutes. After that I decided to ask about my order, it was sitting in the warmer but website still showed cooking. I mentioned this to the young male and he said must be a glitch and said sorry. Got home 5 minutes drive to just barely warm food, realised they only gave 1 x snapper so called the shop. The young male said he’d put it in the credit book so anytime pop in, mention phone number and I’ll get my snapper. Went there yesterday 06/12 to just get snapper, same young male said he’d cook straight away. Went to Woolworths for about 15 minutes then went to pick up snapper, lady came to counter and I said I was awaiting snapper. She said oh yeah ok then I saw her put it in deep fryer, waited about 5 minutes then she called my name asked what salt, told her then I heard her in the back say to the male has she paid!!! Well that’s the last time we’re going there, it’s like they cook 1 order at a time. It’s a shame because foods alright but service is utter rubbish.

Surprised this has low reviews the lady was very nice and the fish and chips were very nice. Get a decent amount too.
