Fish and chips in Mackay!
Judging by the queue Vella’s seems to be the local’s choice for fish and chips. We tried local the mackerel and chips and it was delicious! The fish, chips and salad deal for $15.50 is terrific value! Even though it was busy, the staff were super efficient and the food was ready very quickly!!
This is the best place in town to get a really good feed of fish and chips and the best value.
Two single packs, 1 x piece of fish, 1 x potato fritter, serving of chips, and a can of soft drink. Can’t eat it all.

Aside the fish n chips the bonza burger is phenomenal!
I love Vella’s for my Fish n Chips needs but after the new management took over, prices went up and they are putting less chips with the packs. I no longer feel like I get value for my money and instead of having enough chips for the whole family we have to ration them out. It’s still nice but no longer the must go place.
This shop used to have the best fish n chips in Mackay. Under new management the standard has declined! Very disappointing, I used to drive across town because it was worth the drive. Potato scallops were paper thin, fish portions smaller and no battered seafood sticks available. I will no longer waste my time n money on inferior food!
Still the best fish and chips in town. But only open wed to saturday??? Wow guys, really??? Weekends are the times when alot of people want take away.
