About
59 Fish is a popular fish and chip shop in Maroochydore serving the Sunshine Coast for lunch and dinner, with takeaway and delivery options that make it easy to enjoy a quality feed wherever you are. The shop has built a solid reputation across hundreds of visits, with regulars and tourists alike coming back for the battered cod and chips, the signature dish that keeps people talking.
The batter here is done well, crispy on the outside and light enough to let the fish speak for itself. Chips arrive golden and far from greasy. Calamari also gets a mention from those who’ve worked their way through the menu, and the Tuesday specials, which have featured fish like hoki alongside calamari and chips, are worth knowing about. There’s also a kebab offering on the menu, a nice bonus for groups where not everyone wants seafood.
The staff are a genuine highlight. The service is fast without feeling rushed, and the team has shown willingness to accommodate dietary needs, including gluten-free requests, which is reassuring for families with varied requirements. The shop itself is clean and tidy, with wheelchair accessibility at the entrance and seating available. A kids’ menu makes it a practical choice for families heading out for a casual meal.
Free parking nearby adds to the convenience. For anyone visiting the Maroochydore area and looking for reliable, well-priced fish and chips, 59 Fish is a straightforward recommendation. Phone ahead during the dinner rush if you’d prefer a shorter wait.

Good fish n chip shop 😋
Has changed ownership and you can notice the change. However, we did enjoy the meal. Medium serving of chips, crumbed whiting and calamari served a family of four. Good value for money.
Will be back!!
Well my wife and I visited tonight after checking out the reviews and we weren’t disappointed. The two girls provided great customer service and were very accommodating for our gluten free requests and gluten free eating daughter raved about the takeaway. Overall a great experience and I think you can take down the under new management sign above the door because you have made it your place now.
Had a great experience at 59 Fish! The fish was fresh and perfectly battered – crispy on the outside, tender inside. Chips were golden and not greasy. Staff were friendly and the service was fast. Great spot near the beach for classic fish & chips. Highly recommend!
Just really impressed with these people and their beautiful food.
So genuinely friendly and nice, Beautuful smokes.
Kebab was just yum!!! As was friends fish.
So quickly made. Prices were good. Everything lovely and clean. But jyyst lively people!!!! Definately stop there again when we come down! All the best to this business! 👍👍👍😀😀😀😀❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Tuesday Special is great! This was my first time having Hoki and I really liked it. Fish, calamari, and chips were all seasoned and fried to perfection.
Best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Excellent customer service, good portion size ms and the homemade potato scollaps were yummy! Lovely young guy serving.
2 salad kebab bowls, looked nothing like the advertised photo, salad so minimal could barely find any and was missing the carrot, covered in dried out tasteless chicken that was not fresh and way too much sauce.
2 kebabs were nice except too salty and too saucy.
The staff were pleasant but busy, I would suggest some training in providing what is advertised.
I visited this fish and chip shop in the late afternoon, well before closing time, but unfortunately the experience felt unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. The shop already appeared to be shutting down — the lighting was quite dim and the overall atmosphere felt off, which didn’t create a great first impression.
The food itself was also disappointing. The burger was very plain and lacked flavour, and the meat portion was noticeably smaller than the bun it was served in. We also ordered chips with cheese and gravy, which were quite underwhelming. There was very little cheese or gravy provided, and the gravy itself was extremely thin and watery, which made the dish far less enjoyable than expected. The calamari was overcooked and very rubbery.
We ordered fish, which unfortunately was also disappointing. The portion size was quite small for the price, and overall it didn’t feel like good value for money. Considering the cost, we expected a much higher quality meal.
I was really looking forward to visiting after hearing positive recommendations from others, but sadly the experience didn’t live up to the hype. Overall, it felt overpriced for what was served, and there are definitely better quality fish and chips available elsewhere.
