About
Hooked and Cooked is a casual fish and chip shop in Oxenford, Queensland, serving lunch and dinner through the week with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available. Parking is free on-site, and the venue is well set up for families, with high chairs available and accessible facilities throughout.
The menu covers the classics done well. Fish and chips is the signature, and regulars speak highly of both the battered and grilled options. The battered fish comes out golden without being heavy or oily, while the grilled fish, including barramundi, is praised for being clean, moist, and full of flavour. Calamari is a standout, known for being soft rather than rubbery. Potato scallops, dim sims, chips, hoki, and seafood sticks round out a menu that covers plenty of ground for the whole family.
Portion sizes are consistently noted as generous, and the chips hit that reliable mark of crispy outside and fluffy within. The shop has earned decent reviews across nearly 300 ratings, with freshness and friendly service coming through as regular themes. It functions equally well as a quick weeknight meal or a relaxed weekend sit-down.
Phone ahead for larger orders, particularly on Friday evenings when demand picks up.

Best fish n chips we’ve had! Had the family pack. Calamari was soft and tasty. Grilled fish was delicious, clean and juicy. Battered fish was also very good. That and the scallops weren’t dripping with oil like most other fish shops. Even tartare sauce was sensational! Well done will definitely be back next time we are on the coast
Would not recommend.
Chips, calamari and fish were soggy and fish was undercooked and inedible 🤢.
Asked how big chips served were, was show a $5 serve so I asked for $10 and got less than the $5 serve shown to me. Staff aren’t very welcoming and tables were all dirty.
Such a hidden gem! The fish was golden and flaky, and the chips were seasoned just right—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You can tell everything is freshly made. The staff were incredibly kind and made me feel right at home. Great portion sizes and fair prices too. I’ll definitely be coming back. If you’re craving proper fish and chips, this is the place to go!
Came in today for a quick bite with some friends and found an absolute hidden gem for fish and chips. I ordered the snapper and chips and was blown away by the size and freshness of the fish, it was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. My friends had the value platter for two, and we were honestly amazed by how generous the portions were (we couldn’t even finish it!). The staff were super friendly too, even providing us with a takeaway box for the leftovers. Great food, great value, and even better service, definitely one of the best fish and chips spots around.
Bought fish and Grilled barramundi (yesterday 20.12.2025) was cooked nicely and it was delicious. Even my fussy eater son loved the grilled Barra, that’s gotta say for something right! Service was 👍. Highly recommended ❤️
Excellent seafood. Prompt and pleasant service. Dining area alfresco…clean and covered. The seafood basket was really delicious and satisfying. Recommend as very good value for a fish n chipper! Thanks Hooked and Cooked staff.
Would not recommend, since changing hands the quality has gone down hill and to top it off they stole my $10. I pre ordered my Christmas prawns and paid a $10 deposit and said they would ring me Christmas Eve when ready to collect. Well I never received that phone call and when I sent them a message and queried it they kept saying they rang me several times. Clearly a good way to take peoples money😡
I ordered a serve of flake crumbed and chips. Unfortunately it was terrible. Tried after changed hands and was also terrible but thought I’d give them some time. Its been a few months and still not good. $16.50 for the tiniest piece of fish and chips. The fish tasted odd and wondered if it was off. The front fish cabinet wasn’t working so didn’t see the fish – out the back. I won’t be going back. Real shame – used to be lovely.
