Went and spent $60 for dinner for the family to be highly disappointed. The majority of the meal was chips. The cod wasn’t fresh, extremely thin and small, seemed to be tail end only and tasted disgusting. My sons fish bites where ridiculously small even for a kids meal. I’m a local and have been a couple of times. The ice cream scoops are questionable and the only thing good is the calamari. It really shows when you have children running the show and not enough adults around. Waste of money, especially in our economy.
Busy weekend afternoon at the historic Shelley Inn. Fish burger deal with chips (more like french fries) was huge. 2 massive pieces of crumbed fish on the burger along with tomato, beetroot, lettuce, fried onion and tartare. Delicious and filling. Chips were well cooked and seasoned. No lurid fat yellow chips here. Quick, friendly service despite the constant late afternoon traffic in the shop. Plenty of places to eat in store or just outside overlooking Baxters’ Jetty and the creek. Free Parking at a premium on the weekend at this location. Prices above average for excellent fish and chips. Highly recommended.
Located at a corner of shop houses facing a park against the backdrop of the sea with sea breezes blowing. Freshly fried fishes (cod, whiting, snapper, etc), calamari, etc with lovely juicy fries accompanying them. Crispy, hot and fresh. We ordered the seafood set with extra cod and calamari with iced latte and long black to wash them down. What’s not to like?
Fish and chips 🍟 at Shorncliff. The view over Moreton Bay is also quite nice as well. Picnic areas on the waters edge at Cabbage Tree Creek. If you have time you could drop the fishing line in and catch a whiting or flathead.
Hi. I thought the fish was cooked well, however I’m no expert lol. I was going to have crumbed, the healthier choice but I thought I’d live dangerously! The serving of chips was generous and cooked perfectly – with the crunch. Perhaps under salted but that’s better than over. The only minor disappointment is that I don’t think they sell flavoured milk. The staff were friendly and thorough.
We had a fabulous lunch of fish and chips across in the park.
We ordered the family pack for 8 and we more than pleased with the size and quantity of the serve. 8 beautifully cooked pieces of cod, mountains of calamari (we didn’t count) and two large servers of fresh hot chips.
Service was welcoming and our order prepared in very good time.
We will be back again.
Soggy, bagged wrong, flavourless. This place isn’t what it use to be.
Ordered $100 worth of food online for the family. Was there in 14 minutes from ordering to collect. 3 pieces of fish, serves of calamari and whiting pieces all thrown into 1 paper wrap and turned into 1 big disgusting flavourless soggy mess. Unfortunately, this is the 3rd strike in a row. We will not be returning. Plenty of other places in the area. Staff need to be trained better it seems. All very young and seem so confused which also shows bad management.
Great location and beautiful old shop, but if you’re vegan you can’t even eat the chips. Everything is deep fried beef fat oil.
Why not use canola, or a vegetable oil for the fryer. Please consider changing this.
