About
Booval Seafood is a casual takeaway fish and chip shop in Silkstone, Queensland, drawing a steady crowd of regulars from across the local area. With a solid four-plus star reputation built across hundreds of visits, it has earned its place as a reliable spot for a proper feed.
The menu covers plenty of ground. Calamari comes out nicely cooked, and the chips are consistently crispy, which is exactly what you want from a good fish and chip shop. The potato cakes draw particular praise, described time and again as thick, golden, and crunchy, and the fish bites are well-sized with a satisfying batter. Hamburgers are another strong suit, generously sized and priced reasonably enough to keep families coming back.
Booval Seafood is family friendly and well set up for a casual meal, with free parking on-site and street parking close by. The shop is wheelchair accessible, and payment by card or NFC is accepted, which keeps things convenient. Takeaway is the name of the game here, so orders travel well.
Service has received the occasional mixed note, but the food quality is what keeps the Silkstone community returning. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep waiting time down.

Booval Seafood at Silkstone Village is pretty good! 🐟🍟 The menu had plenty of options, and the aroma in the car on the way home was mouth-watering 🤤. We ordered a dinner pack—the calamari was nicely cooked 🦑, and the chips were crispy and golden ✨. Overall, a tasty meal and worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Plain hamburgers and chips were delicious. Burgers were so big, I couldn’t finish all of mine. Great size burger and prices were extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Booval Seafood at silkstone. Next time I’ll be trying their seafood.
For a seafood shop I expect more. First time going here. Got a calamari meal and a fisherman’s basket for one (2 of us eating). Serving sizes are massive, which is good, chips were great, but that was about it. Calamari rings were over cooked in both meals, my piece of fish was so far over cooked it was dry, the crumb was almost 5mm thick around it in most areas and it’s the thinnest bit of fish I’ve seen come out of a seafood shop takeaway, prawns were cooked great at least but more crumb than prawn, and for the price, I would expect proper tartare, not the squeezy ones. Disappointed to say the least. Maybe they were just busy, but the shop was empty, but who knows. I feel bad leaving a review but for what it was, and the majority of it being overcooked, just really disappointed. I was excited because of the reviews, and we are a family of 7, so if this was a good meal, we would of definitely of been back for orders in future, such a bummer. 🙁
Dropped in to grab a late lunch. The food was well cooked and great tasting. Fish bites were a good size and had crunchy batter. Potato scallop was huge and thick with a great crunchy batter. Look forward to visiting again soon.
Customer service could do with a bit of work. And that’s the only bad thing I can say about this place. We’ve tried many different fish n chip shops but our search is now over!!! Potato cakes/scallops are absolutely amazeballs and the fish was seasoned beautifully. We got the $50 bundle and it will last us a couple of nights. Thanks so much and keep up the great work guys 💜💜

Dropped in for lunch and it was amazing. Great service, a friendly atmosphere, and incredibly good food. Affordable, high quality—can’t fault it. Five stars all the way.
Tried so many fish and chip shops in the Ipswich area, and disappointed.
But these guys have got it down.
And…excellent pricing.
Proper thick potato scallops, delicious!
