A kids’ menu makes it a practical stop for families, and dine-in, outdoor seating, and takeaway options mean there’s flexibility for however you want to eat.

Dinner for a family of 5 good portions service was good. we waited out the front, and they brought the food out to us. We had the fish of the day battered cod, calamarie was fresh, and chips were crispy it was all delicious. Price was about what you pay these days for fish and chips.
Just purchased fish n chips today 30/11/25 ordered the fish of the day (flake) battered and it was inedible the batter was disgusting and the fish was like rubber, this is seriously the worst fish shop in the coast. We live in Tugun and thought we’d try them again and wow their food is so bad ..
Took my sons and partners on a day trip to Tugan where we hadn’t been for many years.
Oct 2025.
As in my opinion Tugan area never changes and is family friendly.
And I wasn’t disappointed, we were served by happy staff and the food we had was absolutely superb!!
We all loved it and I made sure to mention Captain Hooks to my niece who spent a few days at Tugan last week. And she said the same as we did!
Bloody beautiful!
Best fish n chips we’ve had in years.
Now to plan my next visit!
Keep up the great work guys!
You’re the best !!

We made a large order for a large family on a Friday evening. The staff were rushed off their feet, the queue was out the door! A good sign I thought, must be popular now. And although the wait was super crazy long it was so well worth it!! The fish was delicious and battered perfectly and the order was devoured by all. Truly the best we’ve had for such a long time. Definitely the local I’ll be recommending to all my family and friends.
We came down for fish and chips with my family- to take away to the park.
I asked about the Oysters, I was told they came in fresh the day before from Tasmania, however we wouldn’t risk eating them. As someone who eats oysters fresh often, these were dry and had a very fishy smell and slight yellow discolouration. Oysters aren’t in my top 10 foods I’m going to role the dice with.
The fish we ordered (cod) was dry.
The fish taco was OK, but so wet with sauce they just tore apart.
The service was fine, the kids on the counter were polite and kind.
Our first experience here was fantastic the food was amazing and the service was lovely, which is why we decided to come back. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to the first, and there didn’t seem to be any adults around at the time, which may have contributed to the experience.
When we arrived, we noticed that customers who had been waiting outside were having their food brought out or their names called. We waited for quite a while, assuming ours would come out too since it was busy inside. Eventually, we went to check and found our food had just been sitting on the bench, getting cold. What made it more frustrating was that the staff member then started taking food out to other customers.
Being the only brown customers there, the situation made us feel uncomfortable and a bit overlooked. On top of that, the fish burger buns were burnt and the rest of our food was soggy by the time we got it.
We were really disappointed, especially after such a great first visit. Unsure if we would go back!!
Omfg i waited like 20mins for 3 seafood sticks and 10pk battered mussles
I had to go up and ask how long it was going to take because I mean it wasn’t a big order the young men were very lovely great with customers when I asked how long it was going to take the young lad ask the chef who was also young and she looked absolutely pissed off and said two more minutes.
I finally get it no problems I ask for an aioli and went on my way.
Seafood sticks for average for battered and then I got to the muscles the main attraction and you wouldn’t believe it and it certainly noted on the board but these muscles are the punnet muscles which have been marinated and vinegar and all you know all that sweet stuff however she is battered these marinated vinegar muscles absolutely disgusting I would never have got it never disgusting doesn’t taste good not for my likings when I get better muscles I don’t expect to get muscles that are are from a punnet of supermarket marinated muscles just awful. Yuck. And i paid for them???
I wouldn’t have minded the weekend surcharge if it meant adequate service. The young teen behind the counter needs way more training in customer service. I heard how the guy in front of me had a third of his order cancelled because the ran out of chicken burger at 6pm but the staff sounded indifferent instead of helping him by apologising, offering other options etc. after a long weight for our order I picked it up and asked him if he included the large condiments we paid for in one of the bags. He said confirmed it was. We left and of course when we went to eat it, no condiments. The food wasn’t bad but bad service experience spoils the food by leaving a bad taste in your mouth.
