my partner and i frequently love ordering from here since the food is really tasty, however I’ve unfortunately gotta knock a star off because I love to order their fish burger and pay extra for cheese and sometimes jalapeños to be added to my burger but unfortunately every time I’ve ordered this both extras that I’ve paid for have been left off. It’s kinda disappointing paying an extra $3.50 for extras I really would love to add and don’t end up receiving.
Had the best battered snapper and chips from here. Wife said her fish burger was the best she has ever had…and that’s including in NZ so that’s saying alot. Cheeseburger and battered mussels were great as well. Nice spot unfortunately bit far from home so can’t visit weekly.
We just ordered 3 x crumbed snapper, chips, calamari and pineapple rings. So tasty, fresh and beautifully presented. The fish was thick and cooked to perfection. The pineapple rings were battered then dipped in cinnamon sugar – so good. Highly recommended 👍
I’ve been to this place before and was impressed. Based on today’s experience I wouldn’t recommend .I fact , star is too generous, but I have to give something to leave a comment A lengthy wait, chips that were the scrapings of the deep fryer, The chicken salt I asked for didn’t exist. The calamari rings were crumbed . The fish was fair ..not overly enjoyable . If you want severe disappointment this place is for you
We had a delicious take away lunch. Surprised at the quality. Still fresh and crispy when we got home. Scollops are made In house. Crispy and yum. Fish burger was delicious. Not too much sauce. Calamari was the best I’ve had for a while. Chips were great too 👍.. highly rated
We’ve been going to Spotted Cod for 10+ years now – Unfortunately the misses are more common than hits these days. Got 4 potato Scollops and family chips for $25, got 7 scollops about the size of a 50c coin. Chips were also overdone and tasted of old oil. Reckon we’ll just go out and grab HJ’s chips if we feel like it from now on.
Been here many times but went last night and placed a massive order for multiple family at our place. Was told 15 mins got food 35 mins I totally understand it was Ash Wednesday maybe owners didn’t as it was super busy and understaffed.
The food we received for over $80 was inedible. My husband popped in today and saw owner I went back 20 mins later to a very rude staff member wouldn’t even walk around the front to speak to me. I asked for the owner he said he hadn’t been there all day LIE then when I said my husband had been in he said I’m too busy to speak to you your husband sorted it please leave.
We’re locals been a lot and after today will never visit again
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Ordered the fish and chips combo, calamari and a chicken burger with a side of chips. I got it delivered by DoorDash, when the order arrived no burger or the side of chips. I rang the shop and they tell me of “yes here is the burger we will make you a fresh one and you can come and pick it up”. Problem is I don’t have a car which is why I ordered from DoorDash. This is what your whole business is all about deliveries and takeaways. It is the store’s responsibility to make sure that everything on the order is ready to go and all correct. Poor form when we had to split a fish and chips combo for one between two people. You need to get it right.
