About
Corrie St Big Fish Cafe is a solid neighbourhood fish and chip shop in Chermside, Queensland, with a well-rated reputation built on consistent quality and good value. The menu leans heavily on the classics: thick-cut chips, potato cakes, and hamburgers that regulars return to again and again. The Works burger in particular draws plenty of praise, with generous fillings and fresh ingredients that put fast-food alternatives firmly in the shade.
Cod features prominently on the menu and is known for coming out in a sizeable serve, while the chips are reliably non-greasy. Portions across the board are described as satisfying without being overwhelming, and prices sit at a level that makes the whole meal feel like genuine value. The atmosphere is casual and unfussy, the kind of suburban shop where the food does the talking.
Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all available, making it easy to enjoy a meal here on your own terms. The shop is family-friendly, with a kids’ menu and wheelchair access throughout, including the car park, entrance, and seating. Coffee and small plates round out the offering beyond the core fish-and-chips lineup. Card payments, including NFC mobile, are accepted, and free parking is available on the street and in the adjoining lot.
For anyone looking for a reliable fish and chip shop in the Chermside area, this one is worth keeping on the list. Phone ahead for orders during the dinner rush.

Classic old school corner shop burger! Generous amount of fresh ingredients are well put together creating tasty burger.
They also do great thick cut chips as well. We usually get their burger deal – Works burger combo with thick cut chips and a can of soft drink at $12. Great value.
Great range, delicious fish & fast service but beware; the attached photo is $4 worth of chips (the minimum)…wow, pathetic guys! Trawler Fresh Seafoods close by in Virginia are a good alternative.
Just got Uber eats, diver took almost 30minits from 5km away :/ I do this as a job as well and it doesn’t take that long even if I deliver 3 delivers at the same time.
Also main problem is fish and chips meal for two all the chips where made from out of date/ off potato’s spat out the chip soon as I tasted it and asked my house mate to try they did the same. Fish for some reason has similar taste must been cooked in same oil the off chips where made in so could not stomach that as well and it was also under cooked, the fish looks like it’s just seen a ghost it was so white since it was not cooked properly,
What I love is the consistency. The cod is always huge, the chips never oily, potato cakes are also great.
Tonight we had the biggest tastiest plain hamburger ever.
Husband and wife run this shop, always smiling and food is cooked right and comes pretty quick. Plus they are so cheap.
We only ever get take away, but, the have the odd table and chairs if you want to eat there.
Always Corrie St Seafood come out tops for us, above all others in the area.
I don’t know how ratings are this high the fish and crumbed sausage were soo poorly cooked the crumbs just fell off . I feel like I was robbed service was good but food was the worst fish and crumbed sausage I’ve ever had!!!! If you want to feel angry definitely come here
I decided to try the fish and chips here, but sadly it wasn’t the highlight of my visit. The fish had a bit of an unpleasant smell and just didn’t have the freshness or flavour you’d hope for—it’s probably one of the least enjoyable versions I’ve had. A bit of a letdown, as I was expecting more.
That said, not everything disappointed. The juice was genuinely tasty and refreshing, a nice balance that helped brighten up the meal. The overall experience wasn’t the best for me, but there were still small positives that made it worthwhile to try once.
It may not be my go-to spot for fish and chips, but perhaps other menu items would be a better fit for next time.
Your typical suburban takeaway shop.
Yummy. Good quality.
Good portion sizes (neither skimpy nor huge).
Reasonable prices; good value for money.
Clean, tidy, quiet.
After all that, the dècor is a bit plain, but who cares!
Let’s support independent owner-operated stores, to keep the big guys honest.
Why would anyone buy from Maccas or anywhere else when the food and prices are great here. I love their Works burger. They servings are huge and food is made fresh and delicious. The owners are super friendly too !!
