About
Cooked at Bayside has built a well-rated reputation among locals and visitors passing through Wellington Point. With solid four-plus stars and over seventy reviews, this fish and chip shop has become a reliable stop for anyone after quality seafood on the Redlands Coast.
The menu draws consistent praise for its crumbed whiting, which regulars describe as genuinely fresh with chips that hit the mark every time. The calamari also earns strong mentions, served as pieces rather than rings and in generous portions. Cod features on the menu too, cooked without the heavy, oil-laden quality that can let battered fish down. More than a few visitors have remarked it ranks among the best fish and chips they’ve had anywhere, a big call from people who’ve eaten seafood across the country. Lunchtime specials are a drawcard, with meals cooked to order while you wait.
The setup suits a range of situations. Dine-in and outdoor seating are available for those who want to sit down and eat, and delivery brings the food to your door if you’re not heading out. The venue is wheelchair-accessible with a suitable car park and entrance, free parking is on hand, and the relaxed, casual atmosphere makes it a comfortable choice for families and solo diners alike. Card and mobile payments are both accepted.

The signage for the store front was a bit confusing as it’s part of a fish shop and it wasn’t straightforward where you would order from as the supposed store front with the store name was where you’d pick your order up from but not where you’d place your order.
We ordered the salt and pepper calamari meal, grilled barramundi, karaage side, and some potato scallops.
The ordering was a little confusing because of the miscommunication. I wanted the salt and pepper calamari meal, but they thought I wanted the side for that item (“SALT & PEPPER SQUID”) without confirming. I only found out when I checked the itemised receipt I had asked for, and it took a while to communicate to them where the miscommunication was and get my order fixed.
They did the salt and pepper calamari, the chips (that were part of the salt and pepper calamari meal), and the potato scallops especially well. The karaage was nicer than expected, but the grilled barramundi was a bit dry.
Salt and pepper calamari meal was good value for money. They were generous with the amount of calamari they gave, and the chips that came with it were crispy and had good flavour. There was a small amount of generic basic salad.
The potato scallops were also crispy with good flavour while having a creamy firm interior.
The karaage was crispy and you could taste the marinade. While the chicken wasn’t dry, it wasn’t tender and juicy like it should be.
Their other grilled fish (barramundi, whiting, and salmon) that my friends got were also on the drier side.
Had some seriously good fish and chips at Cooked at Bayside. I had the whiting meal which was really good. The crumbed whiting was really fresh and chips were tasty. If you at Wellington Point and looking for fish and chips definitely give Cooked at Bayside a go. It is the best fish shop in Wellington Point.
There’s only one other place that did this kind of level of quality seafood and that was in Port Fairy, Victoria. I usually have an issue with seafood, particularly battered fish sitting heavy in my stomach because of the oil. This was perhaps the best Fish and chips we’ve had since Port Fairy. I had the battered snapper, light and crispy, comes with chips, salad and condiments, tartare and vinaigrette for the salad – awesomeness was next level
A big statement but I don’t think I’ve had a better fish and chips. Huge portion of calamari with chips, and extra nice to not be rings. The cod was cooked really well and not oily. Couldn’t fault it!
Looks impressive from outside but so disappointed with food and service.
Chips overcooked.
Asked for a chip fork and told they had run out !
Guy next to me had to bring back his burger as it had plastic wrapping in it.
They just had a couple of young kids working in the kitchen probably on min wage.
I had a much better experience at the fish and chip shop next door.
We googled to find the best fish shop in the area and it was correct!
Great lunchtime specials .
Cooked freshly while you wait.
The lady serving was very helpful.
A good selection of fresh seafood.
Great that a fresh seafood shop has a takeaway shop too! You know you’re getting the freshest and highest quality fish and chips to offer. The staff were lovely. I appreciate being able to order individual items so you can try more delicious seafood.
So disappointed with our last purchase at Bayside seafood. Previously we have raved about their lovely fish & chips, nice fat chips and really lightly battered, lightly cooked fish which is so moist and tasty.
However, last night we decided to treat ourselves to their fish & chips, and were sadly very disappointed. The chips were only halve the thickness and not crispy, and the batter was thick and hard. The fish was dry and overcooked. This was not a cheap meal, cost $57.00 for 2 people who are not big eaters. Will be trying the one down the road next time. Really let down by this.
