About
Windaroo Takeaway is a casual fish and chip shop serving the Windaroo community for lunch and dinner, with takeaway available seven days. The shop is family-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and has free on-site parking, making it a practical stop for groups, kids, and solo diners alike.
The menu covers the classics: fish, chips, calamari, scallops, and burgers. Regulars have noted that the chips are seasoned well and portions are generous, and the pricing is considered reasonable, with small serves of chips available at an accessible price point. Soft drink pricing has also drawn a positive mention from regulars who appreciate the value. Since a change in ownership, a number of locals have warmed to the shop, with the freshness of the oil and the quality of the cooked chips drawing favourable comments.
That said, the experience at Windaroo Takeaway does vary. Some visits have produced well-cooked, generously portioned meals, while others have fallen short on consistency, particularly around the chips and the calamari. The shop’s presentation could also benefit from a tidy-up, according to a handful of regulars.
For anyone in the Windaroo area after a straightforward, affordable fish and chips, it is a convenient option worth trying for yourself.

I have got to say, this is the only place that CHARGES $2 FOR SOFT DRINK, every where I go the soft drink is like $5. Luv dah. And also $3 is the cheapest amount of chips you can get. And IT’S TOTALLY WORTH IT, CHIPS SALT IS PERFECTION, FISH CRUMBED IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD AND ALSO DA BURGERS MMM SO GOOD, but sadly the egg on the burger is the el cheapo so it’s a bit like a downer but anyway SOOOO GOOD GOTTA GO THERE, STAFF LOVELY NICE TO CHAT WITH AND EVERYTHING MAY BE CHEAP ( pricing) BUT JESUS IT’S BLISS!
New owners have taken over since I was last here, and I’ve definitely found a new favorite local fish and chip shop. Chips were cooked perfectly, in obviously clean oil, and there was more than plenty of chips. My calamari was also delicious, and had a crispy coating on the outside, with super soft calamari inside.
Huge variety on their menu, everything is more than reasonably priced, and service is friendly and fast. Awesome first impression for us.
Food is okay, but need you clean shop up to better standard, finger prints in glass, TV that does not work, just a few things make for much nicer place .
Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. My calamari ring was the size of a 10c coin. Quite expensive for what they give you. Super oily chips. Really disappointed. Was quite gross. Really feel like I was ripped off.
Used to be a regular customer but the quality has gone downhill. Last time the calamari rings were TINY and rubbery, and the fish was so bland. I prefer to support local business but this place no longer offers value for money.
What a joke. The women can’t speak a word of English and gave me a piece of paper to write my order on then just stood there staring at with the piece of paper. How do you expect to have a hospitality business and not speak English.
Never going there again
I had ordered $5 of hot chip. When the person was preparing my food she did not have gloves on and constantly wiped her nose with her bare hands. Never had she washed her hands once when preparing my food. Would give it 0 stars if I could.
Great service, terrible food. The chicken burger lacked so much flavor I started to assume I had Covid, chips soggier than my undies the morning after taco bell, fish don’t get me started,
Was excited to try it seeing as another customer had basically said they’re blowing up online and getting popular but I personally cannot see why.
It’s a no from me
