About
Elizabeth South Fish and Chip Shop is a takeaway and delivery spot in Elizabeth South, South Australia, serving the kind of straightforward fish and chips that locals in the area have been coming back for over the years. The menu leans on the classics, with battered fish and potato fritters drawing the most consistent praise. Portion sizes are frequently noted as generous, and prices are seen as fair for what you get.
Beyond the staples, the shop also puts out chicken rolls, panko crumbed prawns, and grilled fish options that have impressed visitors who look past the no-frills surrounds. Families are welcome, and free parking makes a quick lunch or dinner run easy with kids in tow. Delivery is available for those who prefer to order in.
Feedback on the experience is mixed. Some visits produce well-cooked, satisfying meals with friendly service, particularly when the owner is on hand. Other reviews point to inconsistency with the chips and raise concerns about the shop’s presentation and upkeep. It is the kind of place where your experience can vary, so it may be worth calling ahead or visiting during a busy service period when food is freshest.
Phone ahead for orders during the dinner rush.

Nice 👍 place to pop in for fresh 🐟 fish. Make a nice hot chicken roll and delicious panko crumbed prawns.
First & foremost… Delitious food. Reasonably priced and the portion sizes are perfect. To often we over pay for lesser quality food over compensating with large portion sizes you can’t finish. This is not the case here. In my opinion prices/ portion sizes are perfect. The only fault I can give them is they should be serving in a classy cafe not a little shop but they seem to love the community. Hats off to ’em. Worth a visit.
Appearances to the contrary, the Grilled Butterfish was amazing! Should you be lucky enough to be served by the owner you should be very surprised by how expertly your food was cooked. Juicy, delicious, ample serving size all at great value. We pass at least five Fish & Chip establishments to eat here. The others seem to have spent effort on “looking the part” whilst here the effort is spent on the delicious food to enjoy.
Absolutely crap from their cleanliness to their employees and their food. I would NOT recommend eating there because of the disgusting floor, fryers, fridges, AND WALLS AND CUPBOARDS EVERYTHING. The employees don’t do anything they’re supposed to well most of the ones employed now they don’t clean that store properly and neither does the boss! I just wouldn’t want anyone scratching then preparing my food DEFINITELY is not in any case edible or shouldn’t be consumed AND I have been made Ill because of the chips because of all the moldy chips in a batch
Tryed it once. Wasn’t happy. Thought I’d try it again in case they just had a off day.
Worst chips ever. Half wasn’t cooked properly. Soggy and was one big pile of doggy chips allmstuck together. For good fish and chips I’d give this place a miss
Absolutely appaling 4 fish all different sizes chips look like they were cooked yesterday and the calamari rings ive had better from the supermarket and to top it off i got charged $38.80 for this shite ..avoid this place trust me you will be disappointed.. happy to say i will never return.
I got the fish and chips when I want home I didn’t really like it do not recommend it.
A great old school fish & chip shop, friendly staff, lovely battered fish & potato fritters, generous servings x
