About
Golden Chicken and Seafood has built a solid reputation in Glenunga as a takeaway spot that draws regulars and first-timers alike, with well over four stars across a healthy number of reviews. The menu leans into fried chicken in a big way, particularly the Korean fried wings, which have developed something of a cult following. The batter is kept light so the wings stay crispy without feeling heavy, and a small complimentary coleslaw often comes alongside, a small touch that regulars clearly appreciate. The hot soy flavour gets particular attention for its balance of spice and sauce.
Beyond the Korean wings, the shop holds its own as a fish and chip shop in the traditional sense. Chips come out consistently hot and generously portioned, and potato cakes round out the classic side of the menu nicely. The whole operation has that unpretentious, old-school suburban takeaway feel that the big chains simply cannot replicate.
The Glenunga location draws a mixed crowd of university students, lunch-goers, and people who make a deliberate detour just for the chicken. Parking is straightforward with a free car park and street parking nearby, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. Cards and mobile payments are accepted, so no need to bring cash. Seating is minimal, with a couple of outdoor benches available, but this is very much a takeaway-first venue.

Place still makes awesome korean wings. Addictive. Not too much batter so it’s not sickening to eat a lot of. Fried potato cakes are yum. They seem to always give a small complimentary coleslaw with the K-wings.
$56.90 worth of food… They had even ran out of burger buns and gave it on bread… $56.90 what a rip off!!
Edit – The schnitzel is burnt!! Now its even more of a rip off!!!!!!!!! One of the burgers only weighs 290 grams… The rip offs just keep coming!!!
Ordered half/half for KFC, sauce on the side as we have some people who can’t have the sauces. Didn’t realise I was charged $40 until I received my order! Menu states $35 + $1 for sauce combos. Went to ask why I was overcharged? Older lady who explained the pricing too me was very rude and dismissive. Was told that it was extra $3.50 for each sauce!! The sauce provided was TINY (see photos). And don’t understand why sauce on the side would be so much more extra in total?? I’ve NEVER had to pay extra for having sauce on the side??? Seems a bit excessive to me. Be wary!!
One of the best places to pick up Korean Fried Chicken. It’s a great wee place and great friendly service.
I have to drive 30mins to get there but I have a friend that loves their Korean Fried Chicken, so it’s worth the drive.
Golden Chicken and Seafood is your classic local takeaway… portions are generous and the chips are always hot and crispy. Their fried chicken is pretty decent too, with that old-school flavour you don’t get at the big chains.
It’s not fancy, just solid comfort food when you’re in the mood for it. Service is usually quick and friendly, and prices are fair for what you get. Good spot if you’re nearby and craving a feed.
Amazing fried chicken with perfect amount of sauce and spice. Hot Soy is the best flavour. Seating is the only negative but the couple benches outside worked for us.
Consistently crispy, perfectly salty and generously portioned chips! Leave happy every time. Would recommend.
Gravy isn’t weird clear chicken stock looking lightly seasoned water. It’s meant to be rich and dark brown in colour. It was like my schnitzel hot pack was thrown into the river torrens. Horrid.
