About
Port Lincoln is better known for tuna farming and fresh seafood exports than for its takeaway strip, but The Pantry has carved out a solid reputation as a reliable fish and chip shop for locals and visitors alike. Serving the Eyre Peninsula’s largest city, the shop draws travellers passing through and families looking for a straightforward, satisfying meal.
The whiting is a clear highlight, served with light, crisp batter that regulars speak highly of. Chips are cooked well and seasoned right, though those after a larger serve may want to order up a size. The menu also covers vegetarian options and a kids’ menu, making it a practical stop for families. Coffee is available too, a handy touch for those grabbing a quick bite on the road.
Service tends to be efficient and friendly, with the shop noted for its cleanliness and freshness. Pricing sits at a reasonable level for a coastal South Australian town, which adds to its appeal for tourists moving through the region. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with both a compliant car park and accessible entrance, and free parking is available nearby.
Takeaway only, so there is no sit-down option, but the waterfront is a short stroll away for those wanting to enjoy their meal outside. A decent choice for fish and chips in Port Lincoln, particularly for anyone stopping through on a longer Eyre Peninsula drive.

OMG absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommended 👌 reasonably priced, fantastic service 👏 very clean and the food is fresh and delicious 😋.
Well done, we thought we had the best fish and chips at Torquay while travelling….we say you both are on par 👍 😃 keep it up job well done. Sat across the road enjoying the views while having lunch 😋
We had fish and chips here while stopping through, my gosh they were incredible!! Very fresh, perfect amount of salt and just cooked to perfection. The only thing to note is that I felt the minimum chips were on the smallish side of your looking to order for a family.
As visiting the town. Purchased 1 p flake 1 p of flathead and 2 prawns, all so very dry and very over cooked, batter thicker than fish, prawns were totally unidentifiable as prawns. Chips were ok but so much salt, wish we had of had pizza, smelled Divine from down the road. Worst Fish and chips ever and we’ve had a lot from all around the country.
Not a big fish eater, but this place came highly recommended, and definitely delivered.
The whiting was absolutely fantastic, batter was light and crisp. The chips were beautifully cooked.
And a short stroll across the road is the esplanade with tables, enjoying the view of the Port whilst eating without getting harassed by seagulls.
Went in yesterday, lady with child serving/cooking. 10/10 on service, food, efficiency and multitasking. She was brilliant. Went back today, she wasnt there, still good but not as good.
Ordered 1 please fish, 1 fish cake min chips and 2 potato fritters. Asked for fritters and chips to be super crispy. They were thin and nothing was crispy. Partner enjoyed fish cake and fish unfortunately everything else was lack luster wont be back.
Nice experience today, got the 3 piece whiting dinner meal plus a $5 additional chips. Enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. About $40 including 4 drinks. Ordered through user ears and collected in store.
They forgot the additional chips so I went back but they were very nice about it and were quick to remedy it.
Also found a s.a rock in there. Gave it to another girl to hide it.
Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve had. And most expensive.
Fish was so over cooked, it was basically salty cardboard, potato cakes, scallops whatever you want to call them, were so under cooked.
Cannot recommend this place.
