About
Corner Bite Fish and Chips sits on a corner in Lenah Valley, serving the local Hobart community with a menu that covers a fair bit of ground. From fresh flathead and chips to a full fisherman’s basket, the classic fish and chip shop staples are well represented. The menu also features chicken souvlaki, lamb souvlaki, and a range of burgers, making it a solid option for groups where not everyone is after seafood.
The steakburger has earned a genuine following. Regulars rate it above the big fast-food chains, and better value too. It’s the kind of item that keeps people coming back. Service is consistently praised as friendly and attentive, with staff who seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. Orders are cooked fresh to order, so a short wait is normal during busy periods.
Corner Bite offers dine-in, takeaway, and delivery, and is family-friendly, making it an easy choice for households across Lenah Valley and the broader Hobart area. The setting is modest and no-frills, though the food regularly exceeds what the surroundings might suggest. The shop runs both lunch and dinner service, and reservations are accepted.
Phone ahead during dinner hours to avoid a wait.

Great little takeaway shop with plenty on offer.
The guys are very friendly and offer excellent service. Usually takes about 10 minutes to cook your order up depending on how busy they are but definitely worth the wait to get get fresh hot takeaways.
Usual amount of soft drinks, chocolates and cakes on offer. Should it be raining outside there are a couple of tables you can use to dine in and watch the traffic go by. If it’s a nice day you can always stroll across the road to the park and have yourself a small picnic or use the park benches.
We live close by and have given these guys lots of chances since they took over. They are really lovely people, always friendly and smiling. Unfortunately that’s the only good thing about corner bite. The food is really poor, the fish is frozen and not even close to fresh, the chips are either soggy and not cooked enough, or dripping with oil. The burgers are ok, just the buns are not toasted. Honestly I think they need to go on kitchen nightmares. I couldn’t recommend anyone eat here.
This was great until it changed hands a few years ago. We tried it soon after the change of management and were very disappointed: a very long wait followed by hard, white chips and soggy fish. Potato cakes were ok.
Tried them again tonight. Waited over half an hour and they still hadn’t started the order. The woman said she had told us there would be ’a bit of a wait’, but she hadn’t even opened her mouth. She might have been thinking of the other three customers. We left after getting our money back. Glad we did so after seeing the other reviews.

You really cant go wrong and the food is usually pretty good
Had fish and chips on Friday night. Was very good . The shop seems untidy and would be way more welcoming with a bit of a clean up
Friendly service and excellent food for a take-away. Their steakburger is better than any other burger I’ve purchased at the “big boys” and also better value. The premises are humble, but the food really is beyond expectations and deserving of more custom!
