About
Geilston Bay Fish Shop is a well-rated fish and chip shop in Lindisfarne, Tasmania, drawing a loyal crowd across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Takeaway is the name of the game here, with free nearby parking making it easy to swing by and grab a meal. The shop is family friendly and caters well to kids, with a menu broad enough to keep everyone happy.
The menu covers far more than the standard fish shop fare. The fisherman’s basket is a popular choice, with regulars noting the batter comes out light and free of any greasy heaviness. Fresh fish, juicy scallops, and creamy potato cakes all feature, and the batter across the board is consistently crispy. Souvlaki also gets a strong run, and the burger range has built a real following of its own. A veggie burger built around potato cakes has won over those looking for something meat-free, and the chicken burgers draw repeat visits from people who can’t pick a favourite.
The staff are a genuine drawcard. Across many visits, the team is described as friendly, well-led, and quick to make good recommendations. Value for money is another consistent theme, with generous portions at prices that make sense.
For anyone around Lindisfarne looking for quality fish and chips or something a little different from the usual, Geilston Bay Fish Shop is worth adding to the list. Phone ahead during busy meal times to keep things moving.

Hands down one of the best takeaways in Tas. As a tradie trying to eat less meat, I was very excited to try their veggie burger with two potato cakes instead of the veggie potato. Add two eggs and some siracha, this was without a doubt top 3 veggie burgers I’ve had in my life. Doing a build around the corner, I look forward to coming in once a week, not only because of the food but the pleasant team behind the counter. Cheers, guys.
Excellent food .friendly
Team of staff .very well trained and led by the manager . Excellent value and plenty of parking. Congratulations on having such a successful fish and chip shop
Dim Sims were nice, perfect amount of fat and salt. Potato cake wasn’t as crispy as I prefer, but still fine.
Friendly staff, great service and recommendation. The PB burger and souvlaki were tasty. Batter for fisherman’s basket was light and didn’t have any greasy feel.
Best burger in town, I ordered deluxe last time, it was amazing. This time order the chicken spicy and chicken with LOT, impressed me again. Really a very lovely shop and all the staff are very friendly. Recommend to everyone who loves burger!
I haven’t visited Tasmania for 6 years, this used to be my favourite FnC shop when I lived here.
Unfortunately, this visit was less than impressive.
Great prices and service, but the quality of food has certainly dropped in the last 6 years.
Ordered the fisherman’s basket for 1 as I had a craving for some fried food. Received a huge box and was looking forward to tucking in. Had a bite of the fries and the light in my eyes went out. They were dry… Tried the fish bites next and… same thing. The seafood bite and prawns were a little too firm for my liking and the battered scallop was soggy. I tried to eat as much as I could as I already paid for it but I could barely finish 1/3. Really unfortunate.
Fish was fresh, scallops were juicy, crabstick was crabby, potato cake was creamy. All batter was crispy. What’s not to like? All very nice!
