The first time I ordered here, I was given a burnt calamari and shrimps. But wanting to support local, we gave it another try. Sadly, it was the same and it was too late to give feedback as we saw the burnt calamari and shrimps when we opened the pack at home. Never again!
Recently moved to the area and noticed this fish and chips shop nearby. At first, I wasn’t sure if I should try it because there never seemed to be many people dining in. But one day I really craved a fish burger and decided to give it a go. I later realised most customers order takeaway, which is why it looks quiet inside.
The fish burger was huge and only $15 — such great value, and the ingredients were super fresh. The potato cakes were perfectly crispy, and I really liked the texture of the batter. It’s also been a while since I had chicken salt, so that really hit the spot.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. If I didn’t care about being healthy, I’d probably come here all the time — but once a month doesn’t sound too bad!
Woman on phone can’t take a phone order. Ordered a “large popcorn chicken” got overcharged and when I questioned why I was overcharged I was told I ordered a “popcorn pack” which is not even on the menu…nor is the price for it. I don’t understand how you can hear “popcorn pack” from “a large popcorn chicken” and I even got asked “small or large?” to which I answered “large”. When I asked if they do small “popcorn packs” I was told “no” so basicaly mistakes were made and I payed their mistakes. Great food just a shame about the staffs inability to take orders properly
Ordered lunch today from this store and was blown away by the very generous portions we received! The fish & chips cooked here is exceptional… flake nice thick portions not full of batter like most other stores. The potato cakes freshly cooked and crunchy.. overall great food will be back! 👌
I had a fantastic take-away experience at The Slippery Mackerel in Warralily, Armstrong Creek. Despite it being a super busy evening, our order was ready in a reasonable time, which was impressive. The meal itself was surprisingly good—well-drained chips, a delicious burger, and the potato cakes were a definite highlight. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the serving sizes were very reasonable, even bordering on generous compared to many other fish and chip shops. The staff who served us were friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. Based on this first visit, I would happily return.
Ordered a steak sandwich with the lot online last night, picked it up and when I got home it was a normal hamburger and there was no egg. I mean I ate it and it tasted OK, but it wasn’t what I ordered.

Has to be one of Geelong’s best fish and chip shops and now our favourite takeaway shop. After discovering these guys, we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Generous portions, fresh-tasting food and friendly staff. Finally, a takeaway shop that gets it right! We’ll keep supporting you, because businesses like this deserve to stay in business. Also this is one of the items I ordered “the southern fried chicken burger” Wow definitely the best burger going around! So big and absolutely satisfying.
