About
Anakie Rd Fish & Chips is a takeaway shop in Bell Park, serving the Geelong area with a menu that covers the classics. Seafood baskets are the signature item here, and potato cakes draw regular attention from locals who rate them among the better offerings on the menu. Pricing sits at the affordable end, which suits families looking for a straightforward, no-fuss meal.
The shop is family friendly, with a kids’ menu available and wheelchair access for those who need it. Free street parking nearby makes popping in easy, and the location sits close to other useful stores. Service is generally described as welcoming and prompt.
Feedback on the food is mixed. Some visitors praise the fish as moist and generously sized, and find the dim sims and potato cakes solid alongside the seafood baskets. Others have noted inconsistency, particularly around chip texture and portion sizes on certain menu items. The batter on grilled items has also divided opinion.
For a budget-friendly fish and chips option in Bell Park, Anakie Rd Fish & Chips is worth checking out, though experiences can vary. Phone ahead during busy periods to confirm wait times.

Food was nice as always but I am not sure it is worth the money, this is snack pack 4 and we’ll I’m not sure in what world this is half serve of chips.
Grilled flake is grilled with a batter like coating.
Flake is debatable. Cat could hardly chew it.
Lady on grill ran fingers through her hair and then proceeded to pick up hamburger buns with no gloves.
Sorry not good enough.
Will never return.
DO NOT ORDER GRILLED
If you ask for “GRILLED fish” you expect GRILLED fish. Right?
Well…. at this place, you will get first BUTTERED (No, not just a sprinkle of flower) and then GRILLED fish.
I have just returned whole uneaten 2 pieces to shop thinking it must have been a mistake (as we had grilled fish many many times from other places before) and hoped to get the actual GRILLED FISH as I asked as my little people still needed to eat.
Well…all I got is: “that’s how we do it”.
That’s fair enough so… I asked them to bin it for me and I am grateful for that – thank you.
By the way we got no lemon with it either and said “yes” when asked if we “want some lemon with that”.
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, I am certainly not the one to jump on that vagon but this needs to be known. They never told me that their fish is buttered then grilled.
Other food, buttered fish and chips that we got, was not too bad hence not 1 but 2 stars.
SUGGESTION:
If owners read this I suggest you inform people when ordering that you dont do grilled fish as is known in hospitality industry. It might come in handy to google search images specific for “grilled fish from fish and chips shops” just to get some idea of what people expect from your fillet of grilled fish.
My first time at this fish & chip shop. The fish was amazing nice, fat & moist not thin & dry, potatoe cakes & dim sims where also nice. Service was great very welcoming. Thank you. I will return 😄
Mostly ok, but if you order flake, you’ll get a thin slither of a random river fish that is triple battered to bulk it up…..a mouth full of raw batter and oil….
Been here just the once and it was decent. The price was the best element, quite cheap. All food we had hit the spot excluding the chips. They were soggy and chicken salt was average. The shop is in a great spot, near other useful stores.
Worst fish ever. I ordered flake and it was mostly oily batter.
Got chips ,potatoe cakes ,hamburgers in batter, savs in batter last night. Spent over $50 just to get bad foodp
Chips Taste like they were cooked in old oil an very dry. Potato cakes were Taste less ,an hamburgers were are the worst we have had no flavour at all just Taste plain .
I get told they are good with there food well i don’t think so .
Won’t be back
