About
Docks Fish and Chips ranks among the highest-rated fish and chip shops in Brunswick, with strong reviews across hundreds of visits. The shop sits on Sydney Road and draws a loyal crowd for both lunch and dinner, with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available. Free parking makes it an easy stop, and the venue is wheelchair accessible with outdoor seating, so it works well for families and solo diners alike.
The food is the clear drawcard. Fresh fish, grilled well and served in generous portions, is what regulars come back for time and again, often on a fortnightly basis. A rotating salad bar with four options sits alongside the seafood, offering something beyond the typical fish and chip shop fare. Sriracha and a range of condiments are on the table, and the kids’ menu means younger diners are well catered for. Vegetarian options and alcohol, including beer and wine, round out a menu that covers more ground than most.
The staff deliver warm, genuine service consistently, and the venue maintains a spotlessly clean reputation. Overseas visitors and long-time Brunswick locals alike find the atmosphere welcoming. It is the kind of place people return to often and bring friends they want to impress.
Phone ahead for orders during the dinner rush, especially on busy weeknights.

This is my FAVOURITE GO TO place. On 16.3.2024, I brought my overseas visitor to this restaurant to introduce to her the delicious food serve here. The owners and staff are genuinely warm and friendly people. Always love to eat here ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😋😋😋😋😋👍👍👍👍👍👍 Loved their freshly made salads. The photos depicted the tasty food we ordered. My guest was so pleased and thumbs up 👍
The best fish and chips on Sydney Road! We get Docks every fortnight and the fish is always fresh, well portioned and grilled beautifully. Chips are amazing too, can’t go wrong at all!
A wholesome meal. Fresh fish and lots of salad that you can choose from 4 options. The only downside is the fries taste too salty for me. Still, I’ll come back and maybe request less salt for me.
They have sriracha and other condiments as well.
Staffs are friendly.
I’ve come here many times and always enjoyed the tasty seafood and great salads. This time, I just wanted to say thank you for the good service. I think there’s no cleaner place with better service on Sydney Road.
Usually if the owners are Greek for a fish and chip shop then I expect an elevated experience for freshness, quality of product and service.
Docks did not disappoint. The flake and calamari was fresh, the batter crunchy and golden and the chips crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Service is friendly and pricing is relative to the quality of product which is worth it.
So if in the Brunswick area, do yourself a favour and go to Docks Fish and Chips!
Wooooaw the quality of the fish (fresh, perfectly marinated and cooked) as well as the salads and the brown rice… very good quality and very good price! Also staff is very friendly 🙂 will definitely come back!
Absolutely loved this fish and chip shop! The food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. Everything tasted fresh, and the real handmade potato cakes were a standout, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the place had a warm, clean, inviting vibe. Highly recommend if you’re after quality fish and chips done right!
Take away wait always too long. OK if the food is worth waiting for, but the souvlakis are always tasteless, so I have to ask them to add salt, which is ridiculous, saltless meat, and the last two times I went, perhaps because later in the day, but no excuse, the salad in the souvlakis was limp, uggh, and the meat, as often the case, four-five? block-shaped, hard pieces of tasteless meat. I’m Greek Australian, and the meat should be softer, thinner and juicier, or juicy in this case, and the salad always crisp. From the reviews read, it’s a place for seafood, not red meat. Also, the loud dance music ruins the atmos. Anyway, forget it, just another place on Sydney Rd that is too expensive for lack-luster food. Crust Pizza Brunswick is permanently closed. Otherwise, I would’ve gone there. Jesus. Sydney Rd, what a dive it’s becoming. I miss living on Rathdowne Street. I miss good Italian and Asian food. I didn’t know I had it good then.
